SO what does the blood work do? I have heard of others doing that, but they didn't even ask me if I wanted blood work done on Aubrey.??

Blood work tests all major organ function. For example, if ALT is up there might be a problem with the liver... It is very important.

Ok. So when I call my vet just ask if I can get bloodwork done before I get her spayed?

My maltese was just under 3lbs and 6 months old when she was spayed, and she did well. I would want the pre-op bloodwork done.

Mckenzie is coming into heat right now at 8 months and I wish I would have had it done, but I wanted to wait to see if some of her retained baby teeth would fall out naturally.

I'd say to go for it -- the vet's are experienced and the bloodwork gives some much needed peace of mind.
