| ![]() Bentley is 19 weeks old and he jumps like crazy, he even jumped over the baby gate, he is nearly 5 lbs but the vet said to watch he doesnt break something, but how do you stop him, he started jumping up on the furniture and bed and even tries to jump up to the counters, of course he cant reach, but worried he will break something. Are yorkies known for this, I swear he must have swallowed some jumping beans or something |

| ![]() Yorkies are high energy dogs, jumping, running around, bouncing off the walls is not uncommon. Dogs greet each other by sniffing faces or butts. When he is jumping he is probably trying to reach your level, so you can try bending down to greet him, talk to him, etc. When Chip jumps, I put my hand out kind of like a ceiling for him so he knows when he jumps and hits that ceiling he is supposed to stop. It is really something you should get under control as a preventative measure. My sister's yorkie used to jump so much he eventually injured his back and can no longer jump anymore but still tries. | ![]() I don't think there is much that you can do to stop them freom jumping at the gate, or onto the furniture, other than to block him from going into those rooms. |

| ![]() i asked my vet this question and she said to make steps up to the things the puppy was aloud to go on, that way the puppy learns jumping is not necessary for getting what he wants |

| ![]() Kayla was 4mo. old the 10th of this month and my gosh she is jumping on everything. My husband's recliner is one of the big recliners and sits up pretty high. She can jump and pull herself up. Everytime I sit down she comes running and right up in my lap. She jumps from the chairs to the couch. She is about to give me a heart attack. I know they are high energy but she is so little and she just flys. She runs so hard and fast in the house my schnauzers just sit and look at each other like ,,, what was that?? I just hope and pray she doesn't break a leg or something because its impossible to stop her. Good luck. If you find out what to do, let me know.?? PS. I have steps and none of them will use them. |

| ![]() I gave up on the baby gates, they would climb up and jump over, they jump on everything too... they do have to use the stairs to climb up on my bed but they tend to jump off when they are playing
