| ![]() Cody just turned a year old and we just moved to a new apt. Previously he was all trained , and barely had accidents in the house. Now my new apt has pee and poop smell everywhere. Do i need to retrain him (crate him) all over again. I'ts so frustrating to a point that i want to give him up, i 'm running out of patience with this. I don't know if this has to do with anything, but i moved from NYC, where there were dogs all over the place, to the suburbs where there are no dogs.....does he need to adjust to the new enviornment? |

| ![]() I'm sorry, I didn't crate train, I know nothing about it. We moved into a house from an apartment in early july, when Vinnie was only 8 months old. It was like starting new with the pee pad, even though at the apartment he was fine with it. We started taking him outside, we never did at the apartment because of the crime and big dogs in the complex.....pretty soon he was boycotting the pads and only wanting to go outside, which we never even trained him to do...he caught on all by himself. I'm sorry I can't help....is taking your baby outside not an option?

| ![]() Make sure you are cleaning with an enzyme cleaner to break down the poo and pee smells, so it doesn't encourage him to go in the house. It may in part due to the anxiety of the move, but since he is in a new environment and demonstrating this behavior you may have to crate train him again. Have you tried outside potty training yet? |

| ![]() I would bet that the apartment you are in now previously had dogs in that had peed and pooed on the carpet and he is just going where they went. Unfortunately once they do this it is really really hard to get the smell out and to retrain him not to do it.

| ![]() I think it's a change in environment, and you might want to try crate training again. It shouldn't take long for him to get it again.

| ![]() I moved from NYC to stay with my parents on LI for a few months and Paddy did have accidents for a little while after the move. I think you just have to start over laying new ground rules for the new environment or they get confused. I'm sure we're going to have to do it yet again when we move back to the city.

| ![]() I woulden't crate train. Just take him out at least once an hour and praise him when he goes, he'll get the hang of it. |
