| why wont he walk mickey and bella are both 20wks old now and while bella loves her walkes, mickey hardly ever walks. it,s like he cant be bothered . he will walk if he is in the mood but at other times he will just sit down and look around and gaze up at the sky and look at me. i have tried what the vet suggested and take a squeaky toy out to get his intrest but it makes no difference. i have tried half dragging him(gently) or just standing beside him hoping he will get bored but he would sit there all day then when im about to give up he stands up shakes himself and starts walking. at home he bounds around great with bella so there is no physical reason for him to be like this. it is making things so difficult for me taking both bella and mickey out by myself as she wants to run and he just plonks his little bum on the ground has anyone else had a lazy little boy thanks |

| My little Kalani refused to walk also but in his case I could see that he was overwhelmed by the 'bigness' of the outdoors and frightened. I just carried him while I let Hoku walk and one day he up and decided he'd rather walk than be carried and has been fine ever since

| You might have to walk him a little then carry him a little until he gets use to it. Piper will just sit down too when he gets tired, and look up at me like are you dumb or something.

| Sarge won't walk yet either, I thought it was because he's still young... He just wants to hang out in the sun and watch the people walking by. lol. I'm thinking about training classes at PetSmart for him to open him up a little and see if that helps. I took my Golden Retrievers, Oscar and Emmy (yes like the academy awards...aren't I clever.), and it helped them with walking and being more curious about the world. Hopefully it'll have the same effect on my Sarge. The weigh difference is about 90 lbs, but hopefully the mentality will be the same.

| i am thinking training classes might be the way to go too. as mickey isnt great at walking any time i am going somewhere i carry him and bella walks. he never wants down to walk he is happy getting carried. i sometimes think he doesnt realise he is a dog but a baby it is kinda cute but i want him to have fun on his walks. at first we thought he might be scared but now we think he cant be bothered. some days he walks good and we think he,s got the hang of it ,then the next time he plonks his bum down . you gotta love it thankyou for all your replies |

| Do you have a yard? If so, why not take them both out there so one can walk and one can stay put. If no yard, then perhaps an off leash area? |

| Are you using a harness? Milo refused to walk in a harness, now he uses a collar and there's no stopping him. |

| hi, thankyou to you all for your replies. a miracle has happened he,s walking like a dream. before i had tried dragging him a bit then gave up and picked him up. well 3 days ago i dragged him further and didnt pick him up and he started to walk. then 2 days ago i dragged him a tiny bit before he started to walk and today as soon as he got out side he just walked like magic . he,s doing great just hope it lasts. i think he knew he would get picked up but now its either drag or walk and hes choosen to walk. he does great and has his tail up high and looks quite proud of himself . so when they get home they get their reward of chicken which they love. oh and yes i use a harness on them both as i heard they can get trachea problems with a collar by pulling on the lead. alls good so far |

| Lucy is seven months and she HATES walking. We have a big back yard that she runs around and will play in all day but put a leash on her and she sits like a stone after five steps and wants to be picked up.
