Lemme see if I can find a link to it. They sell it at Petsmart for $25...

Here it is: Litter Pan. Don't use it with the litter, just put a pee pad in. She has the one that opens in the front.

Good luck!
I have that litter pan, but don't use it anymore because my boy would sit on the edge and poop over the side!!! That made quite a mess!! lol

LOL! How funny! Now THAT is determined to potty on the floor!

The girl I babysat did really well with it. In fact, I would consider using that method if I get a show puppy. My Chloe potties outside.

Puttint the pad in the litter box sounds like a really good idea.

YES - that is what I have! I actually have 3 of them all in a row.

They work great for us. However, I did start this when they were young and confined to a room for most of the day, so they picked up on it really fast.

Here is the only problem (these still gotta be one, right ) - TJ still does like to pee all sorts of ways. Most of the time, he does go into the box and pee. - BUT - he will also pee down the center (lifting his leg) or if he is in a real rush (for what, I have no idea) he will place his front paws in the box and lift his leg and pee down the front lip or on the side.

So, for TJ protection...I line the floor under the boxes with wee wee pads. With just a tiny bit of the pad exposed to catch any missage pee. Also, sine the wee wee pads I have a just a bit too big for the box. I keep the front flap folded under (only in the front) so that when TJ decided to do he front paws only, that pee that slips down the front under the pad (inside the box) is also caught by the padding that I folded over.

Hopefully I didnt confuse you - the box is definitely better, but you may still have to do some sort of cleaning (like the box)

Oxy def does not do the same jpb as NM. I learned this as well.

For Milo, two of Little Bit's large pee pads with two small ones on top has finally worked for us.

For some reason, he sees the two smaller ones as the target and any run off goes on the larger ones underneath.

Sometimes they miss. I'd thoroughly clean the area under the pee pad and surrounding area. Could be that he smells pee everywhere and that's why he misses. Also, I'd lay 2 down to give him a larger area.
Thats funny, mabe ya better Grate Train him !

Jake had a problem with this when he was still a puppy. I think when their paws are on the pad, they don't realize that they're not peeing on the pad. I started using more than one pad, and he rarely misses now.

I have a couple of suggestions. I put my pee pads against the wall in my spare bedroom. I put an ex-pen around the edges of the pad so they are restricted to only the pad area. Also, if your boy is a hiker, you could try making a hiking post out of a 2 liter bottle filled with water and a pee pad over the top of it. Hope you find a solution. Good luck, hang in there!

Archie's Mom,
I understand your frustration!! Chewy had the same problem, and so I bought the litter box that was mentioned. The box really helped him to stay on the pad (not wander off), and helped to distinguish the pad from rugs, ect. The bad news.... he likes to go in the corners and when he lifts his leg, the pee goes under the pad a lot. This creates a big mess, although you can take the box and clean it, at least it is not on your floor. When he goes outside, he squats, but in the box he lifts his leg. I think because the sides give him something to aim at. Also, he sometimes puts his front paws out, and pee hits the opening, and drips out. So in my experience, the box was a great training tool, but still not the perfect solution. Here is a thread that I posted with similair frustrations...

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90554

I'm still experimenting, looking for the perfect solution. Please let us know how things work out for you!

I am having the same problem with my female. She thinks that she is on the pad when she really only has her front paws on it. I tried litter training when she was a puppy, but she did not like the texture of the pellets. I am going to try with my litter of puppies to litter train them early on. Maybe this is going to be the key. Try, try, and try again.

Good luck with your search for the perfect answer.

I started having the same problem with Lady recently. The Ebayer I was getting pads from stopped carrying them and everything I have gotten since has been really thin and not as absorbent. I guess Lady didn't like to get her feet wet so she started going right on the edge of the pad!

I got a roll of Pish Pads and cut them to size to put underneath. These things are fantastic! They absorb all the spillover quickly. They are amazingly easy to wash, too, which was my biggest concern.
