At the end of my rope with pee pad "missage" OK -- I'm about to give my little monster away to the circus (not really  ), He is 1 year and 9 months old and pee-pad trained -- BUT -- he often pees right on the edge of the pad (the blue area) and the pee runs off and goes UNDER the pad. He also is bad about peeing right next to the pad (my guess is that his front paws are on the edge of the pad and the rest of his stinky little butt is on the floor. I AM ABOUT TO LOOSE MY MIND! WHILE I AM TYPING THIS, HE JUST DID IT AGAIN! WENT ON THE FLOOR JUST A FEW INCHES FROM THE PAD! Has anyone out there had this problem? Is there a solution? Please help me before I commit Yorkie-cide! |
I don't have a boy, but I'm thinking maybe a bigger pad? |

Get a doggie litter box. Put the pee pad inside the box - He will have no choice but to step into the box to go pee - no more pee on the floor ;) |
I feel your pain! Mopping, mopping, and more mopping just for bad aim. But I have been trying the washable pads by Little Bit, and they're great. They're bigger first of all. But because the absorbant part goes all the way to the edge, there is no longer the "run off". ;) |
I put the pee pads inside a kitty litter box. Shhhh....don't tell Venus its a kitty litter box. |
I feel your pain. Sadie often misses too. You're right about the front feet being on the pad & butt off of it. (She does this outside too...front feet on the sidewalk & back feet in the grass & often aims wrong - she's a leg lifter - and hits the sidewalk & not the grass - geez you'd think I have a boy!) I haven't found a solution. I tried the litter box and she wouldn't get in it. I haven't tried the pad frames yet. They make these things that frame the pad. I'm thinking of trying that, but I'm afraid that she'll just pee on the frame & then I'm forever washing it too. |

Sometimes they miss. I'd thoroughly clean the area under the pee pad and surrounding area. Could be that he smells pee everywhere and that's why he misses. Also, I'd lay 2 down to give him a larger area. |
I have a girl and she misses all of the time. She won't use the pad if it is in a litter box. I put newspaper under and around the pee pads, that seems to catch most of the misses. |

I babysat Sukoshi a couple of times, and her mom, Lisa, uses a litter pan that is designed to hold a pee pad. It fits in perfectly, and they can't "miss" and pee on the edge...er...floor! Lemme see if I can find a link to it. They sell it at Petsmart for $25... Here it is: Litter Pan. Don't use it with the litter, just put a pee pad in. She has the one that opens in the front. Good luck! |
