| Neutering/Marking Question Max goes in to get Neutered really soon, he is 9mo old and just recently started lifting his leg in the house. I've read if you neuter early you can avoid them from marking, but now that he started marking, whats the likleyhood he will stop once he is neutered? And advice on how to get him to stop would be geatly appreciated!! I've been using belly bands so he doenst have his scent all over the house thankfully, but I would love to have him stop lifting that leg so I wont need the bands anymore.

| They do stop eventually if you can catch them when they lift the leg a quick no and outside they will get the message - it took Duncan about 6 months to unlearn marking indoors and I still have to be careful if we visit other peoples houses if they have dogs themselves. |

| I heard 50/50. I've also heard that changes are higher that they wouldn't start if they are neutered before they start the behavior. That's why I got my 2nd male dog neutered as soon I could. |

| You could well be right about the sooner the better our old Benny didn't start marking because he was castrated at 6 months we didn't get Duncan till he was 8 months old and had already started marking. He was castrated at 9 months. |

| oh no....my comet gets neutered right before he's 7 months. He cannot walk by a tree without lifting his leg. The good thing is ...he only lifts his leg outside. I guess those are some advantages of training them to go out. I was so looking forward to the end of the leg lifting era once he is neutered. The 50/50 chances of it ending scare me.

| Good new! Max was neutered today and his surgery was a success!! I get to pick him up in 15 minutes. The vet said he is awake and ready to come home Max is trained to only pee outside but he thinks its so fun to lift his leg and give a little squirt inside or out! Now that he is neutered I will try to work on the not marking inside thing, I am determined to have him trained and get rid of these belly bands!! Thanks for your replies. If I get him trained I will let you know how I did it
