| Bath Time! How do you guys get your little babies to take baths? Every couple of days, it is the same thing with me over and over again. Edan *hates* the bath and will not stay still when I am trying to wash him! He crys and kicks and jumps uo and down and squirms all around, It is literally impossible to wash this dog. I've tried everything---I give him treats once he is in, but he won't eat them because he won't eat when he is nervous--he does not want them. I put toys inthe water. I always talk soothingly to him--the last time I was firm--but neither worked, he was as equally scared. I give him massages and am very gently. I've tried the whole desensitization thing where I put him in the sink or tub for a few minutes and lightly run the water then stop. I've tried both the bathtub and sink. I even tried to get into the actual tub with him once thinking that would help him out but it didn't. I give up. Any of you have currently or have had similar problems with your puppies concerning bath time? Help! I don't know what to do! I literally have to force the soap and water on him because I can't just leave him dirty! And forcing him just makes him even more scared!! Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

| How old is yours? Peeks just had to grow up a little before he could deal with bathtime. He's 9months now and with every bath he gets better. Now he just stands up on the edge of the tub like he WANTS to jump, but doesnt. While yours is in its scared stage you have to just talk to them, kiss them and make it the fastest bath of their lives lol. Oh and you could wear shorts and put him on your legs and wash him there. | I put Britain in the shower with me. She has some bath toys that she plays with while I bathe and then I sit down with her and soap her up and play with her....she has a ball. When she was a baby I tried the bath thing and she kept trying to jump out to get to me....so I just got in with her...so we have been bathing together ever since. She likes when I hold her up under the shower spray I think it feels good on her tummy, and she loves to lick at the water spray. |

| If mine hear water running they run to see whats going on. They've even jumped in my bath water several times, and they've jumped in the tub with my sister before when we were at my parents.

| Uma was really hard to bathe at first, but after 5 and a half mo. she is slowly coming to grips with it. Today she didn't squirm much and just endured it.

| Tede scrached me to death So I got a kiddy pool. When it got it I filled the pool put some toys in it, put a chair next to it, put my feet in it, kept him on the lead then he got in.. I played with him. Got a little water on his back, We splashed a while. I did that for a week. I used warm almost cool water. when he was playing I'd wash his privet parts. He did not seem to notice. Then I put him in the bath with my feet in. We still have problems at 8 months ....but. I have a lady who comes to the house. Tede is aggressive and really cant take going to the groomer. BUT HE MINES HER.. one time he tried to bite her. she shook her hand by his nose and told him no.. he has been good ever since. (for her) me he still crawls up my arms. But hes better. We can have a nice brushing at night. just had to go slow.. Hes been a sick baby since he was small. the runt .. so hope something works for you/ love and Time julie |
