| How long should I wait outside for Oscar to pee and poop? When I take Emmy out, within 5 minutes she has done her business and is ready to go inside. I am not having a lot of luck with little Oscar. I just came in from taking him out--I am sweated down! For 20 minutes, he picked up every twig he could find, gathered all the dried leaves (and ate a few), pulled up grass, muzzled around in the ground, and even ate a few bugs! He never once peed! It has been the same way everytime we've gone out today. He will go in the mornings (after sleeping all night), but no luck during the day. Am I doing something wrong?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Do you have oscar on a leash when you go out? How old is he? My suggestion is to put Oscar on a leash when you go outside. Walk to the place you want him to go, say "go potty", and then stand there and wait. Since he's on a leash he doesn't have the ability to go far and do his thing in the yard. Instead he has a 5 foot radius around you to pee and poop and that's it. You may have to wait for a long time but eventually he will go. Then praise and treat him. Then either he can have free time, or you can take him back inside. Worked like a charm for morgan.

| Yup having the same problem here with molly, so its normal, she dashes out first thing in the morning and goes real quick, but the rest of the day its like waiting for ever Im taking her out alone so my other ones dont distract her, but sometimes i have to wait a good 15min she will just sit down and look up at me, like what we waiting for mommy

| Otis thinks he's just going out to play. He does not connect it with pottying at all. He's both potty pad and outdoor trained, so I guess it's probably my fault for this.

| Oscar is on a leash (nonretractable--so he does not go far)...but it does not seem to matter. I will try taking him out at a separate time from Emmy and taking him to the same place. Maybe he will get the hang of it. Thanks for all your advice...wish me luck!!!!!

| Hello - Harvey Used To Be Just The Same, What I Did Was Encouraged Him To Wee, By Saying "have A Wee Wee" Over And Over, Eventually When He Does It You Say Wee Wee To Him Again And Give Him Lots Of Praise. They Are Relly Intelligent And Will Pick It Up In No Time At All. Now After A Short Time He Goes On Command - This Is So Useful. Just Be Patient And Your Little One Will Learn Real Quick. THE OTHER THING IS TRY TO TAKE HIM OUT WHEN HE IS DUE TO GO WEE WEE - SAY EVERY 3 HOURS OR AFTER FOOD/DRINK/SLEEPING. Hope This Helps You......
