| in the crate I can't really complain about Cody's potty habits. Sometimes he is stubborn, but we really don't have very many accidents in the house. We did a couple days of keeping in his crate if he wasn't directly playing with us or outside and keeping him on a regular schedule of going outside to his potty spot. Then he had a couple good days of more freedom around the house followed by some days where he would ONLY go while in the house. Back to the crate for a couple days and now he's doing better again (this is all in the 1.5 weeks we've had him- awesome, right?) The only problem is at night. He's definitely having constipation problems (we're seeing the vet tomorrow) so quite often, the only time he goes is at night when in his crate. Since he was a rescue dog, we don't know what he was used to in the house, but he did spend a couple days in an animal hospital before we had him so he had gotten used to going in his kennel. I think we've had 2 nights the entire time we've had him where he hasn't had any accidents in his crate- and this is with him going to bed at 11pm or 12am and then getting checked on and brought outside at 4:00am when my dad goes to work. Sometimes his accidents are before 4am and other times it's before we get him up between 6-8am. Should we be checking on him more during the night while he's getting more bladder control? (and hopefully getting rid of his intestinal problems soon.... like the diarrhea last night ) He's doing soo well, but it can be so hard to get him to go when we take him out at night... but then he gets SO mad when he has accidents in his crate (my mom woke up to him screaming the other night when he had an accident) |
