| puppy may go!! i have some quite serious problems with my 6month old yorkie.i really have tried quite a few methods.some things she does is - she can get really nasty occansionally for example if she is playing with the my other dogs or is chewing on something she shouldnt be and if you try and stop her shel really goes nasty and bites an if you try and pick her up she just goes mental an bites really hard.ive tried putting her down an ignoring her and shouting at her - this problem has got better but she still does it sometimes it seems shes rele got a nasty streak in her some nights she really gets too much for my other yorkies and they hide upstairs becuase she bites there ears, legs tails etc and we are now not spending any time with our other yorkies becuase she goes over the top with them shes wrecked all our furniture badly. i try and play with her as much as possible with her toys but she still chews and gets nasty if you stop her if my mum is alone in the front room she cant go to sleep if she wants to becuase when we wake up shes wrecked everything and if we put her in another room shel wine and scratch and bark. theres other problems as well but i think ive wrote enough in this already lol my mum feels shes so much hard work comapred to my other yorkies as they wernt like this when they were younger and shes considering getting rid of her.i dont want her to go and im trying to train her.we take her to puppy classes and shes goin ok with them. please help!! any suggestions il try em thanks |

| i understand your plight our miko can be aggressive at times as well, especially with our cat. if you can, continue to be patient and do lots of research. you might be able to make her a happy member of your family. if she bites at your other dogs, you may want to try giving her a time-out in a completely separate area (we use the bathroom). leave her in there for half a minute to a minute and don't open the door or talk to her (or yell at her) until she's quiet. you can also try calling her name when she's being bad (with enthusiasm) and if she comes to you, then you can click-treat (research clicker training) if she's chewing on something she shouldn't be, then in order to make you taking that thing away a good thing, you'll have to replace it with something better, like a treat. get her to come to you and get her interested in what you have to trade. if you shout at her, it elevates her aggression so try to avoid doing that. as for her wrecking the furniture, i wonder if she would do better with crate training when you're gone or trying to take a nap. also keep in mind that at 6 months old, she's teething and so will be very chewy. when she's in the crate, even if she barks and whines, she'll get used to it and realize that you aren't responding and eventually should stop. if she's destructive while in the crate, then you might be dealing with separation anxiety. there's plenty of info online regarding how to deal with that. it's possible you may need a behavior modification trainer to come to your home to see the problems as they're occuring and help you to curb them. i hope you're able to get things straightened out. hang in there! |

| I think except for the aggression that all the behavior is normal. I could be wrong because my Yorkie was extremely calm as a puppy. Scratching to get out of a room, tearing up furniture and terrorizing the older dogs seems normal. I would probably try crate training.

| I would try crate training since she is destroying the house. Good luck with the puppy classes. Remember, you have to always be consistent so she will learn. You have to be patient. Shouting at her may confuse her or upset her and cause her to be more aggressive, so just try talking in a normal tone, but sternly. I hope everything works out, I'd hate to see her go. |

| Have you discussed these problems with the trainer of the puppy classes? A one-on-one lesson would probably be money well spent.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | I would consult a trainer and get her into some puppy classes. A metal bowl or pan and a heavy spoon also work great, when she is mis behaving take the spoon and bang it on the pan and say "NO" my girls HATE that loud noise. |

| Great advise that everyone here have give you, and to add to it could be that she is bored, try to take her for a good walk to drain that negative energy out, and keep her in a metal play pen too when is no one to watch her |

| Maybe one of Cesar's video's could help you in finding the right method. Anything is worth a try before giving up. http://channel.nationalgeographic.co...og%20Whisperer |

| I agree Cesar is the best! He always encourages exercise, too, so I would try to make sure that your baby gets plenty of time going for walks or playing ball with you or whatever. Make sure you PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE good behavior at all times! |

| I hope it works out for you. Just so you know, the newspaper does not work. It just makes them more aggressive. My little Tia came to us at almost a year and she was scolded with the newspaper and she coweres everytime she sees it. It will either make them more aggressive or just plain fearful all the time. A time out and a stern no is your best bet. Also, she may be Alpha in which case, this just may be something you'll have. Bella is alpha and I saw this at an early age. Whenever, she would get nasty and growl (this was at 9 weeks of age) I would roll her over on her back and hold her there until she settled down. It helped considerably, BUT she still has her nastiness, especially at 6pm when things are winding down and she wants to be left alone. We call her bitchy Bella. LOL. Again hope it works out. She is still young and can be changed somewhat but remember part her disposition is who she is. Elaine |
