Litter Box Training? I'm training Simon to use the litter box, until now he's been going on paper. so i put some paper at the bottom of the box and he goes in there when we watch him... when we're not paying attention he will go beside it or find a spot anywhere else, but the litter box. Please offer some advice on how to transition him... also, what do you guys use in the litter box? does anyone use the dog litter? do you find it easier to clean? If i haven't gotten around to cleaning out his box and he's gone in it once, he will not go in it again... is this normal?

I use wee wee pads inside the box. I actually have 4 in a row down stairs and 2 in a row upstairs. It just takes some patience, but everytime he uses the box, give him happy praises, good boy, and then give him a YUMMY Treat! Postive Praise and Treat Reward works very well Best of Luck!

My Morgan is a morkie and is 10 weeks old this week. I am training her to use a litter box because she is small. I use a large kennel that I can fit her small kennel and her litter box in. At first we put her in the litter box ourselves when we could tell that she needed to go. She has caught on very quickly. Now she goes on her own. I started off using Purina Secondnature dog litter but the pieces are so large that they scared her when she stepped on them. Purina makes a cat litter called Yesterdays News. It is the same exact product as the dog litter but just made smaller. It works so much better. So far things are going very well. I hope it continues.
