| HELP! Bella is missing the pad Bella goes to the bathroom outside; as well as inside...which is what I want. But the inside thing isn't working. I have her pads set up inside; and she misses them. Or sniffs it and walks to the other side of the room and goes in a corner. I have tried ignoring it, then using some white vinager to dilute the smell; i tried to use the Four Paws (stinky spray) to make her go on the pad; I tried rubbing up the pee or poop with the pad so the scent is on it; and I have tried moving the pad or adding pads to where she goes until there were 5 pads layed out. PLEASE HELP...I am beginning to get frustrated. She is 7 months; and I know thats young...but why can't we get this pad thing?

Sounds like we're doing the EXACT same things. We're thinking about tiling in pee pads Chloe's just starting to know that she has to go to the pad, so we're definitely making progress. BUT our problem right now is that she'll go to the pad, go around in circles sniffing & by the time she pees JUST her butt makes it off the pad so I think she thinks that she's going on the pad, but she JUST misses it. Most of the time it's even on the blue plastic part on the outside of the pad. I don't want to scold her because I know she's trying and I think she thinks she's on the pad. So, I don't want her to think she's not supposed to go on the pad, but I don't want her missing either?! Chloe's going to be 6mos on Monday, btw.

| I have the same problem with my maltese puppy Bentley. He misses the pad and it gets on the floor. I have ordered the pad holders, since they have slightly raised edges I thought that might help him stay on there. My house smells like pee sometimes. He goes to the pad to pee, but he just misses it sometimes and Hannah is better about staying on the pad, but it leaks through or runs off and gets pee under the pad on my hardwood floor. She is 7 months old and he is 3 months old. I have hardwood floors so I have to mop with the swiffer wet jet every day, and then deep clean with Mr. Clean once a week in the potty area and my hardwood is starting to look bad in that area. I hate how the pee will somehow go through or off the pad and when you lift it up the whole floor is wet. I am going to buy some of those cheap braided throw rugs at wal-mart and put them under the pad holder so if the pad leaks through or they miss it, it wont get my hardwood wet, that way I can change them everyday and throw them in the wash and hopefully it will save my hardwood floor. I have also thought about putting a big plastic lid on the floor under the pads (the ones that go on the big storage containers that you put quilts and stuff like that in). I think that will work good too, since it has raised edges and it is bigger, so it they miss the pad they are still on the plastic lid and off the floor. Sorry this is so long but its something I have been stressing over too. |

| I've never tried this but it popped into my head. At Christmas time I always put a plastic garbage bag under my tree stand incase my hubby overfills the stand and water leaks onto my wood floor. Just a thought. What if you taped a plastic garbage bag, or piece of heavier plastic to the floor under the pee pad, that way if it soaks thru at least it is on the plastic under the pad. Again, don't know if that would or could work or not, but just throwing the idea out there as a possibility?! Kathy |
