I just started training Keely to go in the litter box with the litter. We had her going in the box with a wee wee pad and she was doing great. Today we added a little bit of litter and she thought it was some new treat and was eatting it. But from what I've read from you ladies who have used the litter with telling her no she'll finally understand that the litter is a potty and not a treat. Some people think that you should train your dogs to go outside, but when you live in an apartment its just so much easier for myself and her to go potty.

It is possible, both Jaden and Jewelina are completely potty trained to go in a litter box. I don't live in an apartment but I don't like making them go outside when it is cold and Jaden refuses to go outside when it's raning or wet (yuck!) so I give them the comfort of being able to go indoors which they both prefer. Sometimes they'll go outside if we are on a walk but the majority of times they go indoors and the use their sepereate pet loos.. They both have Pet Loos now, they are made specifically for pets to go indoors, they drain themselves and don't smell at all! :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: I love them and wouldn't use anything else!

When you guys say litter box, is it the actual box? With roof and everything?

I bought something that's for puppies but it looks like just the bottom half. More like a big plastic container tray with a little lowered opening.

Anyways, I have another problem that I hope you guys can help me with....

I use wee wee pads and Sammie is 100% potty trained. BUT many times, he'll put his two front feet on the pad and pees....well then the pee misses and it is wet all around the wee wee pad. Obviously he doesn't know what he is doing wrong so I don't punish him. Are there any tricks to make him touch ALL fours on the wee wee pad so he never misses?

I tried with the litter box and still, same thing...he places two front paws in the box with his rear side sticking out

PLEASE HELP!

My lil ones just kept playing with the paletts.But now they are paper trained.

They are pretty pricey initially, I got mine from www.petapotty.com,
Once you have them though maintenence is next to nothing. I figured with the prices I was paying for littler and pee-pads weekly, in the long run, I save money going with this. There is a similar design to this, it doesn't have the sod/grass on it and the draining system isn't as a high tech but it's only 40.00! :thumbup: http://www.citystreetmarket.com/DogLitterBox.html

Please think very carefully before you decide on this method. Yes is it possible to litter box train these little guys, but I have encountered a few drawbacks and am hoping we can retrian Biggie to the outside. First is the cost of the large bags is about $15.00 and each bag lasts us about a week. Biggie will only use it if has very little urine in it. If it is not he will use the carpet. Second he is a male and stands one foot in and one foot out and his aim is not always that great, so I'm always cleaning up in front of the box. We live in New England and the only place I can seem to obtain the litter is at Pet Smart or Pet Co. and sometimes they are just out of it. The upside is that it is great when there is a few feet of snow outside or for someone who is in an apt. Anyway I hope I havent been too discouraging. Depending on your situation it may be a good choice for you.

I trained my maltese baby to use the litter box since I am in KS sometimes we get really bad weather and my maltese does not like to go outside in bad weather......so to answer your question...yes it is possible...

Do they sell the Puppy go Potty in stores or just online? I am using the Purina one at this time. Well I'm trying anyways. I've only had Holly for 3 days. She seems to love the puppy pads, but not for their intended purpose. She'll play with it, lay on it, and drag in around and then she'll go right next to it. I did think this litter was a bit too big. That is why I was asking about the Puppy Go Potty one.

Blondie-that pet potty system looks like it uses real grass- do you use real grass or the fake grass? The system that is $40.00- it looks like you could zip tie the fake grass to the top & then just hose it off for cleaning & replacement.

I got mine online, I don't know if they sell it in stores or not, I couldn't find it anywhere around my area.

It has the option to have fake grass or real sod. I use the real grass but you do have to let it grow first which is a bit of a pain. The system that is 40.00 I think you could easily zip tie fake grass to it and hose it off! What a clever idea! Let me know how it works out if you decide to try it! :)
