| ringing the bells i just trained lexi to ring the bells... well instead of bells, im using wind chimes that work even better, all she has to do it touch it and it rings. i did buy the bells , but it didnt work that good, it wasnt loud enough. so i rigged up a small wind chime on a black shoelace and it dangles from the door knob.. i tell her lexi go ring the bells and she goes over there and pushing her snott against the chimes... wow went through lots of treats for this one... so now i have to associate the chimes with go potty outside. so now before i open the door, i say to her. lexi ring the bells go potty outside and she does and we go outside... shes so smart

| Oh, I am so happy to read your thread. We have a bell at our back door and Maggie is finally using it. The only problem is if we are not in the kitchen, she doesn't know how to come get us yet. She still can't hold it for long so by the time we get into the room, there is a puddle under the bell. I have to get a wind chime. Good idea!!! Thank you.

| I have been wanting to try this technique. I was actually just getting ready to go buy the stuff to make one for my knob. Hopefully I can get Rusty to ring his bell for potty and not just to ring it...

| Gina, the truth is Maggie is a mess! From day 1, she does what she wants when she wants to. She is not afraid of either my husband or I. If she weren't cute we would have killed the little monster already. We thought she never get it. Potty training her is really hard but we think she's got it. (Cross our fingers!)

| That's what I'm afraid will happen with Rex! But, his dad got a bell, like the kind that sit on a desk, not one to hang on the doorknob.... let's see how it works! I'll keep you updated once I decide to dedicate the time it'll take to implement it! |

| my b/f came up with a good idea also... he said we should get like a real bell and attach it to the inside of the door so when lexi has to go out to potty she rings the bell with her nose or paw.... something that is sensitive to the touch.. like a ding dong bell... that would be real cool.... i have to figure that one out though

| Maggie already figured that one out. She likes to chase the birds so she'll ring the bell when she wants to go play.
