| ![]() Many of our babies are climbers. So if you get an x-pen, make sure its a super tall one! Venus is almost 9 months old. She's about 90% trained. About the time I brag that she hasn't peed on the carpet, I find a spot....and what really gets me, right next to the pee pad. I've made my mind up now, carpet is coming up soon. But in the meantime, I don't want it to smell like pee! I've used several carpet cleaning producs, and simple solutions also. Nothing gets the smell our where she can't smell it anymore. She has favorite corners she goes in on the carpet. Its hard to watch them 24/7 even if your at home all the time. No way I can do it anyway. And poop, omg. Don't even get me started on that. When she's totally confined to the kitchen, she goes on her pads. When I bought the disposable ones, I had to duct tape them down to keep her from playing with them! I suppose this tall "jail bar" looking baby gate is a permanent fixture. She stays in the kitchen most of the time now. I've given up on carpet though. Its got to go! Not real sure whats doing down, but won't be carpet again. I'm afrid to say she hasn't peed on a rug since I finally put them back down, 1 by 1, very slowly. As soon as I brag, she messes up! Many of us feel your pain. I know though, there is no way I could get another pup, as long as there is one piece of carpet left in this house. |

| ![]() I'm going to disagree with the statements made about 8 hrs. is too long to be in a crate, and the dog will soil it. There are lots of dog owners who crate their dogs over nite, at least 8 hrs. and the dogs don't soil the crate. I agree that it's a long time for the dog to be in there but unless it can be confined in a small pen, I think that it's a solution for some people. |

| ![]() I love my Yorkies but I do not trust them 100%. My three year old is great when confined to a couple of rooms. If I give her full run of the house she will find "secret areas". Set them up for success and start with a small goal and then build from there. Good Luck!
