I think this is great advice, Pat. If you ever watch Ceasar Milan's show he does this "claiming the space". I've done this with my chihuahua when we first rescued her and it only took a couple of times for her to know I'm the boss!

I am not sure what you mean by going in their space and claiming it?? Mine whines in the morning when the kids are still sleeping and I am getting my coffee, and I would love for him NOT TO WHINE so he doesn't wake the kids. Is this a time to do the claiming space thing?? He is in his EX-PEN at this time, do I just step over the cage and get really close to him or what?
