| ![]() Hello Since we were potty training Melot prior to the accident, he is not fully there. Instead of crating him at night (I want to hear him if in pain) I put on the belly band. He has been alerting me to let him out, but yesterday and today the pad was wet and now he smells!! Am I using the Bellyband/pad wrong? What do I about the smell?...He cannot take a bath (with cast) and the wipe things dont help!!

| ![]() I used the belly bands on my poodle all day, every day at the end and used baby wipes to wipe him off each time I changed him. We didn't have a problem with odor, so I wonder if Melot's diet or medicine is making him smell bad. Very often medicine changes your body odor, so I imagine it's the same for dogs. |

| ![]() What about just using soap and water on his under-area? Not a full bath so you don't get the casts wet, but atleast it'll clean where the bellyband was. Also, maybe some doggy cologne too?

| ![]() They make aromatherapy for dogs. I use Bach Rescue Remedy for Max - I rub it on his ears when we go in the car. My chiropractor taught me that trick. It has no odor, but lavendar is good for relaxation for people. Maybe you couod check out a website that sells dog's aromatherapy that's both healing and smells good, and ask the vet if it's okay.
