Congratulations on your upcoming adoption.

In my opinion before worring too much on training at this time, find out as much as you can about owning a "tiny itty bitty baby". Daisy is going to be very young when you get her. She might have some special needs.

Keep her warm, (heating pad w/ a towel wrapped around it set on a low setting )no stress or too much activity. Ask your vet for some Nutri-Cal (a suppliment to aid in sugar levels - hypoglycemia). It is important that Daisy will eat often and stay hydrated.

Most Yorkie's are not let go at such a young age. She is not even a pound and there needs to be some concern regarding keeping her healthy, eating, warm and comfy.

Training will come in time. Daisy will need to first get aquainted with her new home, then patience and keeping her in a playpen or such might help with the aid of potty training.

I wish you the best for a lifetime of love and happiness with your new one.

Well I've called the lady, she said the most she could keep Daisy is for one extra week. Because she has another littler ready for the pin, and she didn't want any unknown dogs with these other little ones. I also asked her to weigh her for me, maybe she has grown a bit... Hopefully! Well the reason the lady may allowed me to take her so early is that she's already eating on her own, and the breeder has already given her her shots, and that was a while back. I'm going to take all of your advise though and ask her to keep her longer. So that means I'll get her at 8 weeks instead of 7.

Default Be cautious....

If I may ask how much is this breeder charging you for this puppy?......any breeder that truly cares for their puppies would want what is best for her pups...and being that she is so little she soud more interested in the money....make sure that you take the puppy to the vet ASAP...when you get her and make sure everything is okay..is she giving you a genetic guarantee, akc registration, pedigree, health guarantee????...sorry to bombard you just want you to get a healthy puppy who you can love without having to worry about a sickly pup. If you have any questions pm me and I will try to help the best I can....again CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Agua feel good you did the right thing asking her to keep your new baby as long as she can! That baby needs the best start in life and you are very unselfish for requesting her to stay for your babies health!

When excitement builds it makes it difficult to wait...but remember good things come to those who wait

good luck to you and welcome to yt its a wonderful place to be

Well I doubt she's just interest in money, maybe though... She does know my grandmother and when I asked her about it my grandmother said she doubted it... But I called again and asked her if she could possobly keep her until she was 10 weeks, but the lady is afraid these three week olds won't respond well to my 7 week old Daisy (Well mostly she's afraid of how Daisy will respond to them...) . Oh and she told me that Daisy has gained weight so she is now about 1 pound.

Hi Daisy's mom! Can you believe all of this support? This is my first post. I've been looking at all of the adorable pics and reading the sweet stories. I'm real excited about being a part of this group. Anyway, Fidget was tiny when she was a pup. We put her in a padded laundry basket beside our bed at night. We bought another pup. She was suppose to be a Yorkie. We got hood winked but we love Little Miss. She's a yorkie/maltese mix. Anyway, we put LM in another laundry basket beside Fidget. LM would crawl out of her basket and lay on my clothes on the floor and Fidget would just bark and bark. They're now four years old and still the same! I've gone off on a tangent. I would put Daisy in a safe place near you while she's small. Then when she's bigger, maybe she can sleep with you. Fidget and LM do. It's their bed. My husband and I sleep in their bed. As for potty training, I agree, patience.

My Tinkerbell is 2 years old now and weighs 2 lbs five ounces she is great I love her sooo much, and Kody! I wish you the best! Amanda

Welcome to both Aqua Butterfly and lauralovesfudge!! I am loving this thread!! You are getting some great advice Aqua Butterfly! It is so terrific that you care enough to really read up and prepare for your new little one. She will need 24/7 care being that young and small when you get her. She cannot be left alone for a minute. I have two tinies and I got one at 10 weeks and he developed coccidia and hypoglycemia after i had had him for three days. These are quite common with tinies and it's stressful and expensive. He was put on an IV twice to hydrate him and he quit eating so we had to syringe feed him for a week. He was eating fine at the breeders and his poop was firm but just moving to a new home caused this. Make sure she is always warm and allowed to rest 75% of the time. Do not let others hold her and she should only be held about 15 minutes out of every hour.

Is your breeder local. She could help you out if anything di happen.

I love the name Fidget.

Default 1 more thing!!

About the potty training it should last just fine. When I got Tink she was paper trained and in the two years since I would say she has had a maximum of 5 accidents< She is so good about that. Now if it was a boy on the other hand I would say watch out you are in for it! My little Kody he just wants to lift his leg on everything! I say if she is so good at 7 weeks she will be fine Tink was only 8 weeks and she was awesome all the time!! I bet she will be great! Amanda

Aqua Butterly- You did the right thing calling the breeder and asking for more time. It will be worth the wait. Your puppy will be able to acclimate better with less chance of stress and problems. I got my little girl Jewels at 8 weeks and she was small only 12 oz. She did just fine no hypoglycemic problems or stress related problems. Your babys gonna do just fine. Can't wait to see pictures!!! Best of luck!

Smile new puppy

Hi my 1st time here don't know how this works but love to talk yorkie it's all I do. Keep your puppy warm, keep it with you as much as you can they need the security and easy to go into sugar shock from moving to new home. I have 4 and raised 3 litters so far they are like small children and you are their parent.

Thank you!! It's so nice of you all to give me advise! I went to see my baby today, and she jumped up ready for me to hold her! (She knows my scent because we've went to see her at least 10 times!) She was so sweet, she licked my hand, and she wanted to play a bit! I was suprised she was so hyper but the breeder said she has been eating alot more and without her mothers milk she's a little pig! One of her brothers was taken today! He was a cutie with a pixie face! I could tell she missed him a little bit though... She went and sat in the nearest corner to me and whined a little. I can't wait to get her! She showed me her true colors today too! She acts spoiled, but still manages to look sweet! I can already see she's going to be the princess of the house!
