| i have an idea but need an opinion my 1 year old yorkie mix is having a very bad crate problem. he continually goes in their and when he does we take him out to clean it. I need an opinion to try. Just as many of you may know when you crate a new puppy overnight he cries for you to come. i think my dog is urinating and sometimes fecaling in there so we take him out also. Next time he goes when he cries should i leave him in there and let enough time pass untill i feel i can clean the crate and give him a shower? |

| When Venus wakes me in the middle of the night, we go outside for potty. We started doing this a few weeks ago, and she's getting better about wakeing me Before she has an accident. It did take her a bit before she realized she doesn't want to mess her crate up. Also, putting the crate beside the bed at night, really helped me hear her before accidents happen. I might be wrong in this, but I feel the faster you get your pup outside first, then clean the crate last, they will learn that messing in the crate is "not acceptable and unnecessary". I know with Venus, she's learned when she starts wimpering at night, we go out immediately. Other than going out, she now sleeps through the night in the crate. |
