Leg Lifting on Pee Pad, Help??

Snickers is 5 months old & has started lifting his leg on his pee pads & is peeing down the trim on my walls. I've heard that neutering may help, however, the breeder that I got him from begged me not to neuter him as she wants to stud him. I have a lot of research to do before I make a decision on the stud issue, but in the mean time.....I don't want pee stained trim. Any ideas?

Eeesh... do a search on studs in this forum - someone posted recently about having a stud dog as a pet - it's NOT fun. Pee on your baseboards will be the least of your problems...

Did she give you some kind of deal for him or something? Did you sign a contract stating that you would leave him unaltered? Or is the breeder a good friend? I would definitely have him neutered!

Oscar lifts his leg on the pads sometimes too - I moved the pad away from any walls the other day and he's been squatting right on the pad ever since... dont' know if this will last, but I guess if he has nothing to 'lean up to' he wont. Does your dog continually go in the same general area? I've tried pulling the pee pad up a bit on the wall, so that it curves up the wall about 4 or 5 inches (it stays up on its own). That seemed to work too.

Loki was neutered at 6 months and he doesn't lift his leg. It's awesome.

Loki's outside trained so i don't think i can help much. Someone said they wrap a 2-liter bottle with a pee-pad so they have something to pee on. Seems kinda time consuming and gross to me, but hey it's better than pee on the walls I suppose.

I would say to pull it back from the wall. Lex has a pee pad in the house although I take him outside. I leave that one for a just in case that no one sees his need to go. I don't have it too close to the wall so he just squats to pee on it if he has to.

From what I have heard from breeders Studs don't make very good pet types. They become little horn dogs and that is always on their mind. I am not speaking from experience but what I have been told.

No, I didn't sign any papers to say that I wouldn't have him neutered, nor did I get a deal in order to stud him, & the breeder isn't a close friend - just someone I found through research. She's been breeding for almost 20 years & has had show dogs along the way also. Snickers is my first Yorkie & I don't know that much about the breed standards but I guess she thinks he'd be a good stud. His father & grandfather have the 'ch' in their name, but all I really know is that I love him to death and can't believe I waited so long to find one of these furbabies!!!

I read a bunch this morning about stud dogs & I had no idea that some things could change so much after the process. I'm not sure it is something I will do at all. My only consideration was to maybe have a litter pick or (as terrible as it sounds) get a couple of dollars back. Before making any decisions, I'm I'll spend plenty of time researching the pros & cons.

In the meantime, I will move my pads away from the wall before my fiance' sees the yellow stream going down the wall!!

Take a plastic bottle full of sand and have a pee pad wrapped around , placed another pee pad under the bottle . This is what I have done before Nathan was neutered , it works great .

I made Ceeby a fire hydrant. I took a two liter coke bottle and filled it with water. Then I wrapped a pee pad around it and set it on another pee pad. Most of the time he uses it but still loves the corner of my couch.
