teeth on my fingers My puppy has her teeth on my fingers and toes. She has her teeth on anything and everywhere. She isn't aggressive just playful. Its unacceptable for her to nip playfully at people. Her teeth are sharp sometimes. I have toys for her to bite. I have bitter apple products. But everytime I pick her up she is playfully biting my fingers or anything she can find. Any ideas what to do?

Patience - patience - patience !!!!!! All of us have gone through this with our little pups. And, believe me, they do outgrow it. Carol Jean

| When she bites you, tell her no. If she does it the second time then walk away from her and ignore her, or put her in a short time out. You want her to know that when she bites, even when playing, that it is not acceptable and that you won't have anything to do with her when she bites. Since she wants to play with you and be with you she will realize that she has to stop biting in order to be with you or for you to play with her. This might sound crazy but when my pups went through that stage, I would yelp or go yipe in a high tone like a puppy that got hurt and would walk away. Now if their teeth barely got me I would just yelp. It worked alot better than just saying no. When puppies play they are testing out their skills and strength and when a puppy yelps then the other puppy knows to back off and that it was too rough and if it wants to continue playing with the other puppy it has to be more gentle. All of my dogs have been trained this way and it works excellent.

Zoie does this too. And now that she's 4 months old it's just not acceptable anymore because she bites too hard for how sharp her teeth are. She jumped up at me while I was sitting on the couch while ago and ripped a small tear in my finger (a tooth just ripped it open) I even saw a small piece of skin that could have been torn off (that would have hurt more) so I'm wearing a band aid and she's in her box. Not only did she make me bleed but then I put her outside to pee twice and then she came in and peed on the floor. I'm so tired of her peeing on the floor.

"Playfully biting" ....... is this gentle biting and nipping that doesn't hurt much or is it "hurtful biting?" My pup went through his teething stage and wanted to bite and chew on me all the time - and it hurt! For this reason, I did everything imagineable to keep it from happening. Sorry - I just wasn't put on earth for his tiny sharp little teeth to chew on. And like a lot of little puppies, he went through this stage and almost never bites anymore. Thank God! You need to be the judge - it's you he's biting..... Carol Jean
