| Potty Paper training This is my first house dog and I've had so many different people give me advice on how to potty paper train my little 7 wk. old Sebastian. I've had some luck with him with the paper training except for the doo doo. He cries at night from his crate when he needs to tinkle and I get up and take him to his paper. I hate to keep him crated like has been suggested to me because he gets so sad and cries. He loves to play and run around so I can't leave him in his crate. How have you all had success with potty training? How long does it take? I've been taking him to work with me and he's stinking up my office! Though I try to watch him close, it sometimes comes out before I can make it to him and put him on the pad. |

| It takes a long time. For most of them 4 to 5 months. I keep mine penned in the laundry area at night. She cried in the crate, so I took the door off and now she sleeps in it but goes out of it to pee on the paper. She's 13 weeks and does not poop at night at all. During the day she has the run of the kitchen where I have the pee pads in two different spots. Spots of her choosing. She hits them most of the time. Sometimes for pooping she starts out on the pad but she tends to walk as she poops, so by the time it drops she might be off the pad. When I am here in the computer room, she is here with me. I Also have two pee pads in here. she is not allowed on the floor in any other areas of the house. She is hitting the pads 90% of the time. I take her outside first thing in the morning and after naps. She always squats right away when I take her out. So that's how we do it. As the weather gets nicer we will be outside more, and I hope she'll be trained by summer time. |
