Hi Tjules I do use the pee pads exclusively, occassionally Noddie have urinated in the grass when she has picked up another dog's scent...this is very rare though. But I also don't have pads all over my house, they are in 2 places - the laundry room behind closed door and removed when used and in a corner on the outdoor patio where no one has to walk around them. Don't put the pads all around because your entire house will become her tiolet. Pads are in only one place inside my house. Put them in discrete low traffic areas and take her to them when she signals she need to potty, if she doesn't give signals take her on regular intervals and don't wait for a signal... I find by taking Noddie regularly 2 to 3 hours or after waking up or playing she has very few accidents around the house. Just watch your baby regularly and take her to the pads... you really should have only one area in your house with the pads:aimeeyork. |

However, about the puppy pads. I use the washable ones only. I wash once a week and we are good to go. I love them!!!!!!!! Good luck to you dear. Ronda, Harley and Sophia :animal-pa |
Washable puppy pads?!? Where do you get them? :aimeeyork |

You can get them from me. |
I think they sound great, but mine is used to the disposable ones. Wont they not use something that is different? |

I didn't have any problem switching over, but if you are worried about it you could put a paper pad on top of the washable one for awhile and then slowly reduce the size of the paper one until they are going only on the fabric pad. |
That sounds like a good idea... |
I haven't read other's responses but my Pao does very well on pee pads even if we are at friend's house. He might make a mistake the first time but by the second time he usually gets it right. |
I just switched over to washable pads after 10 years! I wish I had done it years ago... I like them sooo much better! Better for the environment, as well. |
pee pads Hi, I am concerned if I switch from newspaper to pee pads... Yuki will think it is okay to pee on any fabric? He is use to the newspaper...if we are at another persons house and they have newspaper around he will pee on it even if don't direct him to it... But, maybe we should switch to pee pads? I hate the look of newspaper ewwwwwwwwww......Where to purchase pee pads? Washable ones... Thank you everyone for your help! Melissa |
Don't let anyone talk you into neutering him if that is not what you want. I have a four year old male yorkie and neutering him did nothing to "fix" his peeing where he wants. So if your not comfortable with the idea....don't get talked into it. I wish I didn't neuter because I would love an offspring of my dog.....great personality makes up for the inconsistent house training efforts! good luck, Rose and Levi |

My Abbey is 2 1/2 years old. She has been using pee pads since we got her at 10 weeks. I am so glad she uses them. It really makes life much easier. We have 2 down in our house, one in a corner of the living room and one in our bedroom. When we travel we put one or two down wherever we are staying and she never has a problem finding them. We buy the Blue Ribbon brand at walmart. They are inexpensive, good size and good quality. She will pee outside if we go on walks but never asks to go out. Ellie |

I think they like to cover other dogs smells. So this is one reason. The other reason is they like to climb under things to do their business because to them it's like they are hiding it from normal traffice areas. I have found my yorkies even like to climb on a ledge of woodworking to defecate. No matter what I do my 2 year old still defecates in my daughters closet, every morning if she slept in her room. I really think no matter what we use we don't ever remove a scent of them being at that spot before. |
