| ![]() Ok just be sure now to start the touch - say come lexi and when she gets near you , say touch and that means she has to let you put your hand on her before she gets the treat. I know it is so scary cause they are so little and low to the ground. I like the idea of having my hand on her especially in outdoor or different places other than home. It just may save their lives one day. Good luck with the training |

| ![]() Have you done any recall training outdoors on a lead? I think someone else mentioned it here or on another thread. But you need a 25 ft lead and you go to the park or a parking lot and you let your baby roam around. While she is looking around and smelling, you call her. You need really good treats like the cheese. You call her once- Say Lexi Come- hold the word come for longer than usual. DON"T say come more than the one time- make any other noise but the same noise each time until she gets to you. Then treat and praise. If she doesn't turn to you after the first or second silly noise you reel her in from her lead. Let her roam again and start over. You will be very surprized how quickly she will drop what she is doing and come to you. Like oneday KimMee got outside without me knowing it, I had opened the front door and for some reason the back door blew open. I stepped outside and said KimMee Come and then my noise and she came running from the back 40( we live on 2 acres with all brush) Whew was I so happy. My noise is just a silly noise but basically like BooBooBooBooBooBooBooBooo until she gets to me. The only problem I have found is you get lazy in your training. Like I read some place - There are no bad dogs just lazy owners!!!!! |
