YorkieTalk Newbie! | Bells and potty training. Hello. My first post and I'm so excited! I have a toy yorkie, 9 mo old. I've had her for 7 months. I started to think she will never get potty trained and I'm an idiot for getting a puppy. I read some people use a bell on the door. I found some jingle bells from crafts, tied them on a string to the door. After two days of taking her paw to go out she's did it 4x today on her own with her nose. Three successful potty acts. Both types. Only once was because she wanted To go out to chase the cat. I can't believe this worked. I love this little boogar! She's my first yorkie. Love her so much. |

| I have heard of this. Can you explain the bell training method with more detail? Thanks

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Bells Hi. I took a thick string and put jingle bells on it. Hung them on the door we take her out through. I took her paw and touched the bells Everytime we went out. After two days she took her head and nudged the string of bells. It's a few months now and she still hits the bells but there are a lot of playtime outti he! She likes to go out so we go. I think she has trained me but when I ignore her she poops behind my chair. So out we go! |

I would need to fix at first so she couldnt reach it at the start of the training and the next challenge to teach her not to play with the bell. I see a lot of false alarms along the way. She also loves to sneak a quick poo behind a favorite chair. The natures miracle hasnt been able to dissuade that little habit. Fun fun fun!

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Sneaky little buggers I don't let her chew on them but she's tried. Lots of false alarms but when I think I'm not taking her out she poos. So I can't get made at her. I thought with the cold she would go out side and get in faster. But no. She thinks she a husky! Good luck. Who is training whom? Lol!! |
