Morkie potty training - which first? I'm planning on getting a Morkie, and have been reading all the books and links and threads I can... But I haven't been able to figure out if I could train the dog to both go outside when I'm home, and use a dog litter box/artificial turf when I'm not home...
Ideally, when the dog was fully grown and trained, she would have free run of the home and bark/bell when she needed out when I was home, and when I was out be in a confined space (tv room, kitchen, and extra bathroom), with a turf litter box... I'm planning on crate training her, but my goal is to give her two rooms to be in when I'm not home...
Is this realistic? lol
I'm trying to figure out if I train her to go potty outside, then teach her that the litter box is okay too... Or do I start with both available to her - not sure if she'd get *why* we go outside to potty if she can also go inside... Or do I train her to use the litter box and then add in trying to teach her to go outside...
I guess I keep thinking that if she's training to go inside, there won't be any motivation to learn to bark/bell to go outside...
Has anyone trained a dog for a similar setup? Any (all!) advice would be appreciated - I'd like to have a plan before she gets here so that it's there for her from day one... |
