| Potty-Pad help ...? First off... I'm new to the site, so go easy on me My little man, Odin is just over 8 weeks and I had a few questions about potty pad training. I live in the city and there aren't a lot of safe places to walk Odin at night, so I'm indoor potty training him. My main question is - if my designated "potty spot" isn't around where he is "penned off" when he is hanging out with us in the living room, how do I work around this? Or do I need to move the spot into the living room? I was hoping to avoid this, as I don't want him used to it being in this spot. However, I would appreciate any tips on this question as well as potty pad training in general.. Thanks! |

| My puppy is 5 months old and he pees on the pee pad with no problem with occasional mishaps. You should have several pee pads around the house. He will have ones he pees on more and some he may not pee on at all. Slowly remove the ones he doesn't pee on. Having one pee pad will make it much harder to potty train. And make sure you put one close to where he spends time the most. Also, praise him LOTS and give him treats everytime he goes on his pee pad!!Don't ever yell at him for peeing on the floor or pick him up in the middle of peeing. I made this mistake the first week and he would try to pee where I couldn't see because he knew I'd yell at him. There really is no other tip than to be consistent. It could take long but it really depends on the puppy. It seems so hard at first but it's important to be consistent and patient. I hope you have fun with your little boy!! |
