| The Dog Whisperer Everyone that has a new pup or behavior problems needs to watch this show. I have cable and it comes on Friday nights at 8 pm. It is an amazing show. I have an angel and its mostly because of watching this guy over and over again. It premiered last Friday so you may be able to watch the rerun before Friday. I have satalite. It comes on 276. I'm not sure about your cable networks but it the nation geographic channel. Hope you can catch it.

| Well clicker does work on Husbands. As far as Ceaser, he is one of many doing the "whisper" thing. Although my only experience watching him was Oprah which did not give me a warm fuzzy. I have computer chatted with someone that has trained with him and very much likes him. Joy |

| I love 'The Dog Whisperer' and have implemented many of his techniques into training Chester. Plus, you're right Villette, he's a hottie

| I've watched it a few times, and it was always the same advice: walk your dog more and establish dominance. I used to like that guy on Animal Planet who called himself 'Uncle Mattie' and would talk to the dogs in a high pitched voice. Is he still around?

| IMO Caesar Milan seems to have a unique understanding of the dog psyche, the role played by "packs", the need of humans that dogs fulfill in their lives, and how dogs are different from humans. Maybe you have to watch a few shows to really learn from him, but his view of his role in "training people" and "rehabilitating dogs" is so spot on!! It is usually the people who make the mistakes with their dogs and need to be trained how to do what is best for the dog given how dogs are supposed to behave and operate according to nature. His ways of teaching how to help your dog achieve a calm submissive state and how to be calm assertive as the human to relieve the dog of needing to be dominant are so common sensical but brilliant in there simplicity. He is a miracle worker from what I have seen....it is amazing and so many people's problems with their dogs have been resolved and he has saved a lot of dogs lives. Dogs that were thought to be impossible aggressive for example have been "cured" by Caesar Milan. Am I a fan?? |

| I guess I would have to Believe in pack and Alpha and Dominance to feel that what he does works at all. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27693 I have a problem with a one hour show( if it is an hour) making out it is easy to rehab a dog. When it can take years sometimes of heart breaking, dangerous, blood sweat and tears work. Sometimes you are still not able to do anything but take them to the vet to be put out of their pain. It can take 3 hours to fill in the forms to get rehab started and then go from there. By the way having spent the night filling my second set of forms in I know first hand. Aggression can not be cured it can only be managed and it is dangerous for humans and dog alike to think otherwise. Now let me get something clear, I am not talking a spoiled under trained dog with lazy owners That stand around blaming their dogs for their crazy mistakes. I am talking the ones that can and do bite and will kill. I am talking the ones that are so scared out of their minds by a simple human mistake they carry the mark all their lives forever. Sorry there are no quick fixes in aggression rehab non. Come play in my world see the ones I will be working in and around this weekend and then see those that are out trying their butts off to save lives. There is nothing pretty, easy or fun about it. Come see what my girls first owner and a pit bull was created in her life. I am 2 and a half years in to helping her. This will never be cured, never but she will get a comfortable life. I will be training for 16 hours this weekend with the signed understanding that I must train 15 minutes a day 5 times a week for 6 months. minimum I live this daily, so does my girl. This is our life and we will succeed to help a dinted baby. Joy |

It's the same with Dr Phil: while he offers some good advice, it just isn't possible that people are cured from a vast array of psychiatric complaints by talking to him for a few minutes.

| When I fly JetBlue to Oakland, CA from Boston, MA I usually spend most of the time watching Dog Whisperer. I love the show....but then I had basic cable not, digital cable so I couldn't watch it.. SO I ordered digital cable two weeks ago and it was hooked this Monday. So I cannot wait to watch that this weekend.

Don't get me wrong. Ceasar is great with the dogs, but to me he's really just showing the owners what is, in my opinion, common sense in handling their dogs. (My favorite part of his show is the intro where he is roller-blading with a pack of dogs on leashes!) But then what do I know. I'm lucky. All 5 of mine are wonderfully smart, loving and happy dogs. Without the blessing of children, they are truly my babies.

| I saw him on Oprah too. He doesn't actually whisper to the animals. I just think all new pet owners should watch. He addresses dominance, behaviour and addictions. Unless you watch I don't think you make a judgement on his show.

| The shows sometimes cover periods of time that were actually weeks or months or even years and he certainly teaches that dog training and rehabilitation take a lot of time and effort, it is not easy, there are no quick fixes and dogs and people who own dogs should never stop training. It is an ongoing process. He sometimes starts a dog on rehab and then re visits the dog every six months or so to see the improvements made. I watched a show last night about a three year old rottie that had been rescued from a homeless couple by a wonderful lady whose rottie had just died and she was so aggressive towards other dogs she just wanted to kill them. He took her to his rehab center for two weeks and they showed the exercises he did with her and in the end she was a different dog. There was nothing magical about what he did but sometimes people just need to understand how a dog's mind works and how to get past and correct the behavior anf the timing on the correction is crucial as well as how the correction is done. I find it truly amazing. It was amazing and the owners were so thankful because they were afraid that they were going to have to put her down. They had tried "everything" but none of the other trainers were of any help. I too feel that the show is a great thing for any dog owner. I have owned and obedience trained dogs all of my life but I have learned so much from his shows and his DVD. |
