Simultaneous Training Okay two questions that could go under the heading of simultaneous training, and they are unrelated: 1. How much harder is it to housebreak (crate train) 2 puppies at once? We're picking up our little guy next weekend but I have a tiny feeling we could wind up with 2....somebody please talk me out of this. and 2. During the crate training period with a very consistent schedule, can we also be training for other things like sit, stay, etc? Or is it best to concentrate just on the potty training and do the rest later. The puppy(s) will be 13 weeks when they come home with us.

Just me, I would wait 6 months, that way older could help train younger. We plan on another but will wait about 5 years that way should always have a dog. Inlaws do this with Standard Poodles, when one passes the get another. You still feel the grief but not as bad as an empty house and the older one will teach the new one the rules.

We have two 4 month older yorkies and got them together. We of course could not leave with just 1 yorkie. We have been keeping them in the crate and they are doing a pretty good job. The only problem is that they love to play so when we are gone at work and come home there is poop everywhere..... BUT they both are now trained on the leash and know sit, lay down, and stay. It seems that our boy Charlie is easier to potty train but Maisy our girl is not getting it... Repetition Repetition Repetition...

Thanks, our heads say 1, and I asked in another post about bringing a puppy into our home which is ruled by a 14-year old Yorkie....so we'll have our hands full with just a single new puppy.

| I cant help with how hard it is to train 2 puppies, as I've always adopted older dogs. I would definately teach other commands during the housebreaking time. Please let us know if you are able to go home with "just" one lol.

Will do, thanks. And I misunderstood their ages---they will be 16 weeks so I think that will help make crate and other training easier.
