| 4 month old barks all night, 14 year old cat involved We have a Yorkie named Chester, who was born on 4/17, so he's 4-1/2 months old. We have had him since 8 weeks old Our past Yorkie passed away Feb 2014. Who grew up with our cat, who's 14 years old now. They both used to sleep in the bed with us. Well, Chester, got out yesturday and ran right to the cat, and the cat clawed him, he went running away yelping. The cat is very calm, they been nose to nose, but Chester the puppy goes nuts over the cat. We keep Chester up from 5pm till 10pm, playing with him, etc, and at 9pm, we start to slow down with him, till he gets tired. We take him out in the back yard, where he mostly goes. If he does go in the kitchen, 90% of the time! it's on the wee wee pads . Lights go out in the kitchen, where we keep him over night between 10pm and 11pm, depending on Chester. Most times, he will wake up around 2am, bark a little bit to go out. He does his thing, and goes right back to sleep. This past weekend, we took him camping with us, we have a 30' camper, and he was so good. But he got to sleep with us for the first time. He was a perfect puppy 3 days camping. Bought him home yesterday, back into the kitchen last night to goto sleep, and he didn't stop barking till 2:30am. He took a coffee can fill of change, and shake it to scare him, saying go to sleep. Last night was the first time we did this If I goto another bedroom, and sleep with the dog, the cat howls all night. Wanting to get in with us. Last week this happend, I got 3 hours sleep all night before going to work. Last night. Me and the wife were fighting all night over the puppy barking Problem is, my wife works nights at the hospital, 7pm to 7am, so the next 3 nights she's working and sleeps during the day. I really can't handle the cat and puppy by myself. Any suggestions? Last edited by Fltekdiver; 09-02-2014 at 08:21 AM. |

We took a coffee can fill of change, and shake it to scare him, saying go to sleep. Last night was the first time we did this. It wasn't till 2:30 for 3 plus hours of none stop barking. If I goto another bedroom, and sleep with the dog, the cat howls all night. Wanting to get in with us. Last week this happend, I got 3 hours sleep all night before going to work. We have not let the puppy sleep with us till this weekend while camping. But started to have problems last week with him at night. Last night. I really can't handle the cat and puppy by myself. Last week for the first time, we also started to let Chester have the run of the house. Except for 2 bedrooms, when the cat is outside on our porch during the day. We juggle the cats time inside, then Chester goes into the kitchen gated up, or Chester gets the run of the house. When the cat is sleeping in bed, or out on the porch. Not sure what to do about Chester all night with the cat ? Also getting him to sleep at night? Any suggestions? |

| Thanks. We found that not letting him take naps from 5pm on, makes him tired at 10pm when we put him asleep It's definitely been helping Last night he started at 1:30am, I listened to it for a 1/2 hour, before I finally got up and shook the can with coins in it, and he went back to asleep |
