Urine Marking My little boy is 4months old. He constantly marks on the carpet, and does not raise his leg to do so. I do not believe any other dogs have lived in my home before. The spot is so small, I can't find it in the carpet to clean it up. What can I do to prevent this behavior? I am not ready to have him neutered since he is not done growing. |
He is still a puppy and not fully house trained. First, you need to contain him to a much smaller area where you can keep your eyes on him all the time. Are you crate training? If you are then you need to put him in his crate and only allow him access after going potty. Are you taking him out for potty, using pads.......? |
Ii do keep my eyes on him, but it only takes him one second to do it and by then it's too late. He stays in the crate while I sleep at night and I wake up 3x a night to place him on a potty pad. In the day he is usually in my Livingroom where he uses the pad frequently. |

I was told by my vet to never reward peeing with treats only praise. Because they will start to pee anywhere just to get a treat. They associate the act of peeing with a treat and not the place they are peeing. But I hear lots of ppl that swear by it. So idk |

Treats and confinement are the best ways to successfully potty train a Yorkie. When they do it in the right place, treat and major praise. When they do it in the wrong place, ignore it and clean it up. We take 3 steps forward and 1 step back. When Ali makes a mistake (few at 8 months) we clean the carpet and start at square 1. Yorkies can take a while but they are very smart and love praise (and treats) |
My new puppy harley is two months, could he be peeing in his crate at night because it's too big? I'm home all day accidents only happen inside rarely when I turn my back but for the most part he whines when he has to or shows other signs like whining and circling, he didn't start peeing in his crate until today, the first time I had to leave him in there at day time for over 20 minites. I only crate him at night right next to my bed, but Saturdays I have class for two hours. When I wake up I immediately take him out and he only stays in there for 6 hours at night. That's it unless I am taking a shower but that's only 30inites. Husband says his crate is too big for a small dog. But of course I can't listen to what he says, until I hear it from someone else! :-) |

I've opted out of using pee pads for I am here all day long and have the time to do so. I'll set an alarm for every 2&1/2 just to be safe at night time... However last night he woke me up crying like a baby... I took him out..nothing.. I held him for a minute..nothing..gave him some water..nothing!! It was not anything I've ever seen from him before... Do pups cry for no reason like babies when they're young? I know that sounds stupid but I worry about him And don't want anything to happen to him. He cried for 5 hours straight. Then finally my father got here who never even has seen the pup and he shut up and got in his arms instantly. I don't get it? Now my feelings are all hurt like oh he doesn't love me now! Hahaha ... |
