Potty Training Issues

hi my name is ruby. I'm new here. I'm having the same issue with my puppy Logan. he'll be 3 months old on April 16 and he was very good in the beginning when he would squat but he's began lifting his leg and peeing within inches of his weewee pads and everywhere else he can. I've caught him lifting his leg and yell NO! to which he stops and i immediately place him on his pad to go and he just sits there and stares at me as i say "Logan, go peepee!" repeatedly. This morning for a good half hour.... he just wouldn't go! The second i turn around he was peeing under the kitchen table. I'd really like to enjoy him, but every time i take him out he's being bad! i just took him out again and he pee'd on my sofa, earlier on my bed, and im getting frustrated!!! I tape the wee wee pads down and he tears them up, i punish him by placing him in a long hallway i have which i gate off and he whimpers relentlessly. I hold my ground and the second i take him out of punishment (after 20 - 30 minutes) he's peeing on my bathroom door! Im taking him tomorrow to get his first shot but i hear i can't take him out til his second set which is like 2 weeks after? I've been mopping and cleaning non-stop, i can barely sleep cuz he cries out for me and always wants to play. The more i play with him, the more energetic he becomes, and more aggressive! He sometimes goes into these tantrums where he just starts barking uncontrollably and spazz scratching at my bed or sofa. I'm not sure what to do, he's such a little disaster. I've had him for a week now and I'm so worn out already! This is supposed to be fun but all its been is a headache. He's my first dog btw

To begin with, he isn't being bad, he's being an 11 wk old untrained puppy. And dogs don't respond to "punishment" the same way humans do. When he shreds the potty pad it's because he's bored and needs something to do. Try some interactive toys or training.

You need him on a consistent schedule, utilizing a crate and a small area that only contains the potty pad and his bed and food and water- you can search crate training on here or the internet to get a better idea of what it entails.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that getting a puppy at 11 weeks would be all fun and games. He's a baby. They eat, sleep, pee and poop just like human babies do and they need love and care the same way.

Thanks michellem. And of course 11 week old puppies are supposed to be fun! I already do all that. I'm totally in love with my baby, he brings me so much joy when he's not being a terror. It's just I'm reading so many conflicting things. Like, lots of sites say to just ignore your dog when he's barking or whining so as he doesn't learn that this will get him what he wants Everytime, but when I pay him No mind he's rearranging his bed and tearing his potty pads. I definitely play with him Enough, maybe too much? He loves tug of war and well go at it for a good hour straight sometimes and he'll still want to keep going! I get tired before he does and if I don't wanna keep playing he throws tantrums lol. It's kinda funny to see something so tiny be so loud! I also take time throughout my day to teach him basic commands but he's a wild child! I learn a lot of tips and tricks through research and experience with him. I'm definitely going to have to get him a crate tho, and I've started restricting his access around the house a bit to avoid the headaches in the meantime

Hello and welcome to YT. "Yorkies For Dummies" is the first one I recommend."Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" is the second book. These are excellent resource books. Another book "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days" Is very helpful. They are not as easy to housebreak.

He is a brand new pup that just left his mother and siblings. He is young. First make sure you do not bring him out until 2 weeks after he gets all of his puppy shots.

Second with potty training. At that young he can not hold his pee that long. Best bet is to use and ex pen. I have the iris ex pen. I put it were I am going to be the most. So he can see me. I also got a potty pad holder. It worked great for me. Set times for food and play time. If he is lifting his leg already fill a water bottle with sand and put it in the center if the potty pad. It will give him some place to aim. Also you can put it closer to a wall and tape the potty pad to the floor and another one to the wall and the bottle near the wall so he has some wear to aim and the potty pad will protect the wall.
