| Pippin wants up at 4 am to play Yesterday Pippin ( 4lb, 4 1/2 mo) had no naps at all except for maybe one at 3:30 while I went grocery shopping. She slept in her crate from 10:00 pm to 4 am this morning and then wanted out to potty and play. She cried in her crate from 4 - 6 off and on. I finally just got her out and we started our day. Slept from 7-9. It is now 3pm and she is taking her first nap. Should she be sleeping more or is this normal for her age and weight? Thanks for all the help. |

| Different pups have different energy levels. Put a blanket over the crate so it's nice and dark at night. If she cries at night take her out to her potty spot but ignore any attempts to play. If she does not pee in 5 minutes put her back in the crate and ignore further crying. You may get a few sleepless nights but if you teach her every time she cries you get up and play with her you are never going to get any sleep.

| I agree that different pups have different needs for napping throughout the day. When Max was a pup, he usually woke me up to potty at about 5 am. We always had a play session at about 10 - 11 before bed time. He had me in bed early, and up early. My boys are both adults now, but I still get up by 6 am for their breakfast and potty needs, then I go back to bed for an hour.

| Sleepy Pippin Thanks for the help. Especially about the blanket. I'm going to try that tonight. I think she is just a 4 am puppy. But she did go back to sleep this morning until 7 after one or two wimpers. That was a nice surprise. |
