| Pottypads and outside? Does Anyone use a combination of pottypads and outdoors? My five month old yorkiepoo is about 75% trained to go outside, but I have to go back to work which means she will be home alone for 8 hours. Do you think I can pee pad train her for work? |

| ZoE's the opposite. She was only pad trained and didn't even go potty outside until she 11months old, when we were outside late one evening and she really, really had to go. She squatted & peed and stared at me the whole time..like...am I going to get in trouble for this? I told her good girl & gave her a treat. Since then, she will go outside if she needs to, which is great for when we are traveling, as I can stop at a reststop & let her go potty. Prior to that I was putting a potty pad down in the trunk of my car when I stopped and telling her to go on that ...and she did! (both my kids go to college on the other side of the state, so ZoE & I travel a lot). Does she have the run of the house while you are gone? If so, and she is able to get to the door you let her out to go potty, I'd put a pee pad there. I know it's kind of icky, but if you take a potty pad out with you when she goes pee, and quickly dap some up with the potty pad, it will have her scent on it, and she's more likely to go on it inside. Or you could put her in a small room of your house or a playpen while you are gone and place her bed at one end & potty pads at the other.

| Mine are all outdoor trained. They go to Grandma's when I have to work.

| She actually was using pee pads (mostly) when we first brought her home, but the vet said they would confuse her. Three months later, since she's not 100% outdoor trained, I'm not sure what to do. I will be leaving her in my kitchen/breakfast nook area while I'm at work. I am feeling so sad. Bad enough having to go back to teaching, but now that I have my cute little dog, I'm even more distressed. |

| We had basically the same experience with Princess Sophie that Karan did with ZoE. Now we do both. Still have a pad in the downstairs bathroom and she goes out whenever she asks, which is really quite often! We just want her to not do it on the carpets! LOL She is still on restriction and only allowed in the kitchen (which is really big) and the den. We feel most comfortable with that.
