| ![]() Does she have free reign of your room when you're at work? If so, that's way too much freedom for her. I'm so glad you have the xpen now. You'll have to really clean the carpet good with the enzyme cleaner making sure you use enough to soak the pad under the carpet as well. Let it sit for about 10 minutes then blot the excess up with a towel. On your days off I'd suggest trying to stay home as much as possible to take advantage of the training time. Don't take your eye off of her while she's awake. Don't allow any opportunity for a mistake. And, remember to praise like there's no tomorrow with a one treat when she goes on the pad. I had a special treat that I got from the vet that Lexi LOVED that I used just for potty and 'trick' training. Make sure her potty pad is in clear view where you can see her go. She'll want you to see her because she'll know you'll be pleased. After she figures out there will be a party with a treat for using that pad her bladder will be dry as a powder house from going so much. When she watches you when she goes, making sure you see her good deed, you'll know she's got it.

| ![]() I never really crate trained. In fact, our "potty" is a 30x19 crate lined with a piddle pad. I just don't like seeing poo & pee exposed on a pad, so I have them go in a "room". I also have cute covers so they don't stick out & look so utilitarian. Plus, the sides are lined 1/4 of the way up so my boy can go crazy marking ![]() When I potty trained, I kept them in those plastic travel kennels overnight only. I kept the new puppies tethered to me, so I could learn their potty signals. That REALLY helps. When it was potty time, I'd close them inside the wire potty crate. When they learned that's where they go, I removed the door so they could walk in & out when they need to. If you're going to leave Miley alone for 8 hours, you really need to limit her free space. The bedroom might seems small to you, but it's a big new world for a little pup. I would def suggest an expen lined with piddle pads & just enough room for her to eat, sleep & play. You'll figure out her favorite spot to go & you can decrease the number of pads over time until you're left with one. My problem now is that Prima is so tiny & she can't hold her bladder overnight. So she sleeps in her expen with a pad on the floor - no wire potty crate. I feel bad because all of the other pups sleep with me in the bed. But I can't wake up everyday at 2am to take her potty. And she hasn't learned to climb down the stairs from the bed yet. But that same set up might work for you. I'll tell you what helped me soooo much...Prima's breeder gave me a used washable piddle pad that she used in her kennel. Prima had been using those before she came home. So she already associated the pad with the place to potty. Maybe you could ask your breeder what she used & you could get the exact same thing. Or maybe she can mail you a used washable pad. The key is...don't use enzymatic cleaners when you wash it. You want some of the scent to stay in the pad so she can smell where to go. Even with disposables...you can wet a small area with pee from a used pad onto a new pad before switching them out. I even left Prima's poo on her pad one whole day so she'd know she was supposed to poo there. Also, Nature's Miracle in the red bottle does work. You just have to clean the soiled spot it REALLY well. Wash it out with mild soap & water first. Then use the cleaner. I actually use a shop vac to clean accidents. I clean, clean, clean & suck up the excess with the shop vac. Then I spray the cleaner. You can also use a black light to see if you got it all up. Anyway, although it's tough, confinement is really necessary when you potty train. Prima's only had one accident in 12 days. And that was when my husband was watching her. ![]() Good luck!!!

| ![]() Bissell has this thing called a Spotbot: ![]() I don't have one, but I considered it before I ripped my carpets out. I know it's heartbreaking to hear Miley whine when she's confined. But she'll get over it. Prima is the only puppy I've ever had who doesn't cry, bark or whine. It's so bizarre. She's perfectly content in practically any situation. I have no clue how I got so lucky. ![]() Btw...we need more pictures ![]()

| ![]() I am trying so hard not to be upset but I am losing patience. I'm not upset with her per say because she's only 13 weeks old and has only been with me for 4 days. I'm just tired of walking around stepping in piss. She has been confined to her playpen. This weekend when I have time to figure out the door then I'll put that on but for now she's up against the wall.

| ![]() Miley has been in her play pen for about an hour now. She has done nothing but barked the entire time. How long is she supposed to be in the pen?

| ![]() I think she is all "barked out". She figured out how to get out of her play pen by squeezing through the SUPER tiny space between my window and her playpen. I put towels there so that she is forced to stay in. She finally went to sleep. I plan on letting her out after she potties and i'm going to praise her. She hasn't figured this part out yet. I told her "Go Potty!" and I pointed to the spot where she should potty. She thought it was a game and began jumping on my arm and nibbling me.

| ![]() Awww...sweet Miley. Potty training sucks. You have to be on it all the time. My older ones still have accidents. Sometimes I think about outside training them. I collect a lot of pee from 3 Yorkies! But winter here can be brutal. I can't keep my boy confined to a pen or by a gate. He'll figure out how to climb/jump over anything. I have to keep him in a room with the door closed, or a crate. I know it's tough. But son't be so hard on yourself. It's only been 4 DAYS! ![]()
