| How to get puppy accompanied to grooming? I have raised the puppy since birth she is a little over 3 months old now and I would like to be able to use my new clippers on her. How should I train her to get used to it? Tried a couple times before and she just gets nervous and starts shivering!

| Have treats handy, turn the clippers on but have them a few feet away. Do this a couple times a day with treats, and very gradually get the clippers closer, but just a little at a time. You could also lightly brush her after giving her a tiny treat. She will eventually relate the clippers to something good.

| I agree with the advice above. Use treats and praise, be patient, and work with her. Be confident at the same time -- dogs are very sensitive to their humans' nervousness and will reflect it. Touch her body all over every day. Use a little massage while you groom her. Bring out the clippers more than once a week, even if you just "pretend" to trim. The more often a dog is exposed to something, the easier the routine becomes. It gets easier with age.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Is it a bad thing to take them to a groomer? I'm scared to do it myself and ive heard many good things about the groomer that is at our vets office. Also, how old were your babies when they had their first grooming? I'm not trying to hijack this thread. I apologize if I have.

| Teddy was almost 4 months and was awful (puppy was was free). I suggest to get them used to grooming before spending the money. My groomer cold never finish him properly because he would bite her. I had him trimmed short 1/4 inch, and started over with grooming doing what was advised above. We are still working on clippers in paws. Hopefully, when I am ready to give him his summer cut he will behave for the groomer. He is almost 9 months now. |

| My groomer is at vet office so that is why they allow younger pups, all dogs need records of vaccines on file with vet office for any in house services. |
