| Here's a thread I created 2 years ago because Max had the same problem. I'm sorry to say that after trying everything, the only way to currently prevent it is avoidance. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-his-poop.html

| Yes, pinneapple worked like a champ. Still have a bit from a can left and she is no longer a poop eater. She won't even pick it up. |

| The pineapple works to make the poop unattractive but if they started eating the poop because of a difficiency in their diet(growing puppies!) some banana every day will help with their potassium levels. I kept frozen slices in the freezer and fed Abby some every day, she loves it! ( I did this because she ate Zivas not her own) |

| I think you should continue for a while. Gosh, I wish I could go back to pineapple! Max eats Cooper's poop and Cooper doesn't digest the pineapple all that well

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Pineapples contain "bromelain" and bromelain is the same thing used in meat tenderizers, it breaks down protein, making it easier for the protein to digest the first time. If there is no protein in the poop, dogs aren't tempted to eat it. There are other reasons for dogs eating poop, and this will only work if there was undigested protein still in the poop. I would use the pineapple for a couple of weeks, breaking the habit is important. After that I would try without pineapple, and if it starts eating poop again, I would consider changing foods to an easier to digest protein. These rules apply more to an adult dog than a puppy, sometimes puppies eat poop, just because it's there!
