Question When was your pup accident free?

Pita is almost 5.5 months old and does very well most days with potty training, then she will back slide a little and have numerous accidents. I know Yorkies take quite some time to potty train but was curious how everyone else's babies have done.

I am trying to remember but I think it was 8 - 9 months for Rosie. We got her at 6 months old. However, I will say there are times we still have accidents. Not often but every once in a while she will. It doesn't bother me because my theory is if you don't want accidents in the house don't get an inside dog. Lol. But she also has an attitude. When she gets mad at me she will go pee on my bedroom rug. Now those little "accidents" don't make me too happy. I would think in a few months maybe she will be more consistent.

I have to add that most of the time when she has an accident she does it by the gate that seperates the front of the house from the back. I seriously thinks she does it on purpose when I go in the back of the house to get something and don't bring her. I think she gets mad at me does is like 'I'll show you mommy!'

Jackson was probably at 90% by 6 months old. At that point, he would still occasionally poop inside... I'd say once a month, maybe less.

He is now 2.5yrs old and has been 100% for probably over a year now. I can't remember the last time he pooped in the house *knock on wood* So I'd say it was a full year before he was 100%. He is fully outdoor trained and has free roam of the entire house.

Well, I believe that. When Rosie first started doing the pee on momma's rug thing my mom asked me what I had done to make her mad. Sure enough, something had happened that morning. Lol. And it is always on the rug when she is mad.

Default A year and half

It's been a year and a half and my male has gotten the idea that he pees outside, but pooping is done inside the house, so he will go on his pad. He is really sneaky too because he's been scolded for pooping inside the house, so now rather than think that he should go outside to poop, he thinks that he should watch me carefully... wait until I am not looking, then sneak off to do his pooping so that he doesn't get caught in the act! This is driving me insane! He should know by now.

LOL he does know...just the wrong thing.
Buster is over three years old and is good 90% of the time. He is very finicky about using the pads more than once and will protest by going on the carpet if the pad is not fresh. Now if I only could train Jack to change the pads more often when I am at work then our success rate might be better.

Waffles just turned 1 year old and just peed on my bed. LOL Now usually shes is just fine. As long as we watch her. My hubby was watching tv, then took her to play on our bed. 3 hours had elapsed since last pee check. I dont let her go that long, must be why she doesnt have accidents around me. But if given a chance, with hubby or the boys she will pee where she is not to. Vet said its normal up to 2 years old with small breeds. Before 2 nights ago her last accident was 4 months ago.

You know, they are so smart, yet so *bleep* ok, I meant to say a variation of 'not smart' lol. I thank God that I work from home and I can be with my babies all the time, before I had this job it broke my heart to leave them, even though they had each other to keep company.

The funny thing about my little boy Augie, when I go to the bathroom, he comes and jumps up and down, then runs downstairs to stand by the patio door to go outside (You would think he wants to go pee right? Well, it's 2 opportunities for him, peeing AND chasing/patrolling the yard for pesky squirrels and birds! LOL)

What's funny to me is, he knows how to tell me he wants to go outside, but not for pooping! Pooping for him is something he does inside the house, in a warm environment!! What a dorky yorkie!!

My 3 yr old Daisy, she has been housebroken since right after I got her and he won't even follow her examples, and she just treats him like he's a dummy. I love the looks she gives him, like "you idiot'.

Oh, how much longer til he gets it?? I also have to try harder not to take my eyes off of him and when he sneaks into the other room to follow him! It's hard to do when I'm trying to work - and I do take them out every couple of hours.

I love the way they communicate. The looks and vocalizations that Buster barks speak volumes. Buster is usually hanging around me or Jack. If I don't see him I know he is up to something he shouldn't be doing. Buster has trained me well.

What kind of box? Like a kitty litter box? Or one of those indoor grass boxes?

I'm just glad their poop doesn't smell that bad! Not as bad as a big dog I guess!

Joel is 10 months and probably 98% fully potty trained, lol. He's almost 100% but the only 3 times he will go in the house if I dont watch him closely is when it's raining, after a bath(I think from being cold) and marking something, but he hasn't done it in a while since i've learned when he does it

Tinkerbell was probably 90% by the time she was 6-7 months and 100% by 12 months. When I was housebreaking her I used to tether her to me so I always new where she was. She is 2.5 years old now and she can hold it all day long while I am at work and has free roam of the house.

Tibbe was 9 mos. old when I started housebreaking him and probably 19 - 20 mos. B4 he was accident free, even being grown and with full control. He had 9 mos. of going in his cage 24/7 to overcome though. But now, unless he is ill, he will hold it all day to keep from having an accident. He much prefers to be uncomfortable and not pee on the pads I leave down for him rather than go in the house! I wish he would go on them - or anywhere - if I am detained but he won't.
