Anxiety Hello, I'm new here and could use some help. I have a 1 1/2 year old spayed yorkie female, sweet as can be. She was kenneled at night until October when we did our roof. The sound of the tarp hitting the roof terrified her, and that was the end if kenneling. I have been going through back issues r/t a back injury sustained in 2009. This led me to spend many nights in the recliner in my living room; where all three of my dogs than snuggle up on me to sleep. My 3rd and hopefully last surgery was July 2nd. I am now able to sleep in bed. Bella my yorkie is not to happy with this. Every night at 2 am she goes to the baby gate and barks for me until I get up and lay on the couch with her. I have tried to let her bark, but she gets her self so worked up that her voice becomes hoarse, and she can barely breath. Once she falls asleep I go back to bed. How can I break her of this? Re introduce the kennel? I tried once and was unsuccessful. Any tips or suggestions would be helpful, especially since I'll be going back to work soon, and she needs to get used to me not always being here.
I have started leaving the house for brief periods so they can acclimate, as the last time untried that she chewed the walls, ate chipped paint, ended up with a GI bleed.. So we need some help
