| Just so we are all talking about the same thing do you mean ONE CUP 8 OZ SIZE? You could not possibly be feeding 3 8 oz cups of food per day to a 2.8lb puppy.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I use kibble to train Joey, I think it's a great choice. We use to train using his breakfast ration, and also half his dinner ration. We also use frozen (thawed) green beans for training. Your baby is so young, I'm not sure if you want to introduce that yet. For potty training we used regular cheerios, when Joey was a puppy. One or two cheerios don't have much food value, but it's a great reward and they think they got a great treat. How much does you boy weigh?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That's what I was wondering, my husband calls anything a "cup" when he means scoop.

| Yes I actually took the time to measure the food Not exactly 3 cups, but pretty darn close. The reason I even got concerned and even started to ask these questions, because I picked him up earlier this week, and chubby had a pretty round tummy. Maybe it will all balance out when he starts to go on daily walks? His vet said that his next round of shots should allow him to go outside pretty regularly.

| We use Cheerios for training. They are small and more healthy than fatty treats. |

| 3 cups per day for a 13 week old 2.8lb. pup is waaaay too much and your smart to talk to your vet. Don't be scared of us, we are just trying to help! Please let us know what your vet says, good luck.

| Bella used to eat about 1 1/2 cups of food per day when she was about that age...it was nuts. She is now 5 months old and eat less than that on most days. I let her eat when she wants as much as she wants. She used to eat 3x a day...now most days she eats 2x. We use Cheerios for treats for the most part. |

| Buddy my 80 pound golden only gets 3 cups kibble if he has been highly active that day. Most days he will get 2 cups of kibble. My super active yorkie, Roxy will only eat max 1/2 cup kibble total but would eat much more of human food if allowed. 1 day she ate 1.5 cups of food- Home cooked for dog by my friend. 3 cups is a lot of kibble especially if the puppy is less than 3 pounds. I just weighted 1 cup of dog food it weighted 8.2 ounces. 8.2 x 3 = 24.6 16 ounces to a pound. 24.6/16 = 1.53 pounds. That would mean about 1/2 of the dog's weight is kibble.

| I would say 3 cups per day is to much. Georgie eats about 1/4 cup twice a day and that's a mix of kibble, wet food and some boiled chicken. He also gets a snack at night. Don't be scared though seriously it's so much better that at 13 weeks he is eating rather than not eating.....that's when its scary! Just ask your vet what they think. Maybe he eats it because it's there (like some of us humans LOL).
