| Ding Ding "Mom I need to potty" Hello fellow Yorkie lovers. I have only had my little Chanel 3 weeks. We have had a few things to work out, I am still in training. lol She is sleeping in her kennel at night. That was the first transition. Trying not to have TOO many rules at once. We are getting ready to "enforce" the potty thing. Right now we have a couple of pads inside AND we go outside whenever we catch it in time. My question is Have any of you used the bell ringing method? My house is big and even if we are in, say the living room/kitchen area if she goes to one of the 2 outside doors I might not see her. I have never actually seen her go stand at the door to go out. And there are lots of "hiding places" to sneak in. She might go to the potty pad or most of the time just squats where ever. I really thought I could do this without any help. ROFL not so much. So thanks for all of your advice in advance. Chanel & Suzy |

| I know they can be trained to use a bell. I had a cat once that ringed a bell to let us know she wanted to go out it was cute

| We have the poochie bell for Tessa & Daisy. I haven't yet used it and they have no idea what it is. We are on a timed potty schedule and I lay out a potty pad for their convenience. If you succeed with the bell, do share your experience and some pointers. Good luck |

| Ladybug went on pee pads until she was 6 months old, and then I started training her go outside. I placed bells on the back door and I would take her paw, ring the bell and say, "go potty" I would open the door and take her to the pee pad outside. It took her about 2 days to get it! She now just taps the bell by nudging it with her sweet little nose and we haven't had any problems. I thought it would be difficult because I waited so long to train her. But it was pretty painless. I'm sure your little one will do just fine.

| It was easy for Ladybug to get the hang of it since I would ring the bell after she ate or drank, and when she woke from a nap.

| I have a new parent that has taught her baby to do this! I think this is just too cute! I asked her how she did it....she did it like "Ladybug" said she did it....they took Tinkerbells paw, hit the bell, said "potty-potty", opened the door, took her out and when she went potty, they went all crazy and squeally and gave her a green bean! That baby had that system down in a day....by the next day, she had even figured out she could "fib", get let out, run to the grass, squat (and look over her shoulder to be sure mommie sees her), then jump up, run in the house to the fridge to get her green bean reward......repeat this procedure in 2-3 minutes.....every 5 minutes, until mommie catches on to the scam!!!! Dont you just ADORE these babies????!!!! |

| We use the bell too! We can tell how bad Cooper has to go by how hard he hits that bell! It was easy to get him used to, he had it within days! |

| Thanks to everyone for all of the replies . Chanel is only 10 weeks old. Is this too young to start? Green beans as treats? Really? Raw or canned? I have never heard of such. Lol Thanks again! |

| Roxy also uses the bell to let us know that she needs/wants to go out. I would start now, ringing the bell every time you go out for potty break. I have to admit that sometimes Roxy rings it because she wants to go out and play. I always take her out when she rings the bell though unless it has only been like 5-10 minutes since we went out. LOL. |
