| Puppy yelping/crying extremely loud at night!! I brought my puppy home Friday & she's not doing to well adjusting to her new home!!! At night it's terrible every few hours she welps really loud. Almost sounding like a crow!! I feel horrible like I took her away from her family. I was told to ignore the crying so she'll learn not to continue that behavior each night. How long does this last??? And is that normal?? I have her in a puppy apartment so she is able to go to the bathroom when needed. So she doesn't need to be taken out of the cage for housebreaking reasons. Is it wrong if I go down & comfort her throughout the night?? I just don't want her to feel lonely!!! |

| I don't know how people ignore the crying...they must be made of much stronger stuff than me. I was up every 20-30 minutes with ZoE the first two nights I brought her home. I'd get her to fall asleep in a blanket in my arms & then I'd lay her down and go to bed myself and within minutes she'd be crying again. I'd try to ignore it, but just couldn't, so I'd be up again. By the third night I was absolutely exhausted, so I layed down on my bed with her and we both slept. She's been there every night since.

| Maybe put a big stuffed animal in her bed for her to cuddle up to. She is lonely & scared , if you put her crate next to your bed it may help quiet her if she can smell you. I have never left a pup alone in a different room to sleep so I have never gone through the crying pup thing. Dogs are pack animals by nature so I do not believe in seperating them from you especially at such a young age. Last edited by lillymae; 03-18-2012 at 08:50 PM. |

| Poor little soul....crying out for her mommie....please dont leave her alone at night....put her crate by your bed or even up on your bed so she knows she has not been abandoned by everyone she knew and loved...her momma and littermates and breeder! She has got to bond with YOU and that is a much deeper bond and easier to accomplish if she can connect you with protecting her and comforting her and being there for her.... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ok, first congrats on your baby, now, did the breeder give you a stuff toy or a blanket with the litter scent? if not take one of your t shirts and wear it all day, and at night, before you put her to bed, put your tshirt on her crate she needs someones scent to feel secure, also a stuff animal with your scent will also give her comfort. Place her puppy crate next to your bed, she will hear you breathing and that will also comfort her. this is the main reason I give parents LOTS of items with the mama and litter scent so the baby don't suffer. best of luck.. hugs, |

| Bella did that for about a week. I just closed my bedroom door and let her yelp and cry. After a week she started sleeping in her crate all night. I would get up about every two hours and take her out and put her on her pad to go potty, put her back in the crate and she is still quiet. I heard if you take them out while she crying she will think thats all she has to do to get your attention and you come rescue her. |

| Congratulations on your new baby! I put their crate next to my bed and would put my fingers through the crate and would pet them. Your little fluff will get used to the crate you just have to be consistent and keep it up! Good luck!! |
