| Why is he humping my baby!!! Hey everyone, I have a 4 month old Morkie that has been with us since she was 8 weeks old. In the last few days her 7 yr old neutered brother has been trying to hump her! He has never done this before with her, now he seems to be doing it every few minutes we keep telling him no and he stops for a few minutes but goes right back to her. The vet said to bring her in at 6 months to get her spayed. Is this just because she is growing up and starting to produce different adult hormones? How do I get him to stop this, I worry when they are left alone that he might hurt her, she is only 4 lbs and he is 20 lbs. Any advice would be very appreciated. |

I'm thinking this is classic domination signs....Mini does it to beds infact, we can't have a bed for her lol! I think if you do some googling you will find this is not uncommon. Soon your pup will be bigger and this will phase out.

| Sorry your post took so long for answers. As Lynzy wrote, humping can be an innocent form of domination. My Teddy does it occasionally to Max when he is excited or wants to correct Max. Because of the difference in size of your doggies, I would separate them with an xpen or baby gate when you cannot supervise -- at least until you are confident you can leave them together safely.

| Thank you for your replies. I certainly did not mean to scare people away . I did purchase an x-pen so that we can keep them separated during the day when we are both at work. We are going to have her fixed in about 6 weeks so hopefully that helps???? But if it is, as you say, a domination thing her being spayed is not going to help the situation. |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | It could be a bit of both domination, and or hormone changes, or even just getting too excited in play. But by the frequency I siding more with hormones.

I wouldn't worry. Spaying, maturing, and a little time should help. Keep correcting your boy and redirecting to acceptable play when you can supervise. My Teddy was 8 months when we brought him home and we had to keep the boys separated when we couldn't supervise. This lasted about 3 months. With maturity, they aren't swinging from the chandeliers, wrestling, when they are alone.
