| Pees upstairs on her pee pad but not downstairs. I recently re-homed a 3 year old yorkie that is pee pad trained. Well, I have a two level home and she's still afraid of going up and down the stairs without being carried. I have a pee pad upstairs in the hall by all of our bedrooms and then there's another one on the first floor. Anytime she's upstairs, she uses her pee pad with no problems whatsoever. When she's downstairs, she goes on my rug which is not far at all from her pee pad. It's in plain view and I've even taken her over to the pee pad and told her softly to go potty. She just lays on top of it and then when I'm in another room or not paying attention, I turn around to find pee on my rug. I need some suggestions on what to do. I've only had her less than a week but she's successful upstairs but not down? I don't get it. |

| My two will go outside or use pee pads, but I can't have rugs in my house either I don't think they can tell the difference between a pee pad and a rug. Good Luck!

| Mine doesn't have a problem at all with rugs... When downstairs, maybe if you start the training all over again & keep her attached to you with a leash all the time and take her to the exact spot you would like her to relieve herself everytime & treat when successful I bet she'll pick it up before long.

| I have oak flooring throughout my home and quite a few area rugs. ZoE's never peed on my area rugs, bathroom rugs, or the lambskin rug in my bedroom...she only goes on her pads. I'd make sure you clean the rugs where she's pottied very thoroughly. And I'd try bringing a dirty pad that she's peed on upstairs, downstairs...so it smells like her and she knows what's expected on it. Do you praise & give treats (even just a few of her regular kibble...) when she goes potty where she's supposed to? It really helps to reinforce the behaviour. Good luck

| truffles is 5 months and she is completely potty trained (doggie door) but as soon as we take her to her grandmothers house she pees on her floor even if she gets taken out. I have no idea what her deal is but we are working on it!
