I have one of these as well, but Chloe still doesn't always hang around long enough for it to fall on the pad holder....:confused:

Now that we have a new baby, Cailee, I am appreciating the pee pad more. Cody goes outside and barks when he needs to go out. We trained him(a continuing challenge) on a potty patch because we live on a boat and are cruisers. Now that we have our new little girl, Cailee (3-1/2), we are working in the pee pad. She does OK most of the time, but she thinks it's OK to get her front legs on. She still young, so I am hopeful.

Also, Cailee is a "walking pooper". She starts in the middle of the pee pad and really covers some ground. Cody never did that. Oh, a new experience.

I thought about getting Martha Stewart's pee tray, but I was concerned that Jack would still miss it or just pee outside or on the edge of the pan.

Maybe I'll reconsider now. What kind of tray did you buy?

Cooper is four and he still misses his pad. Although you wouldn't know it from his reaction. It doesn't matter if he hits the pad directly or pees four feet from the pad. He comes running into the living room, barks, spins and fully expects a treat. :rolleyes:

This sounds familiar. Bailee does that too. But, you can't get mad at them because they are going where they need to go, just not on the target. I still think the pads are better than going outside in the rain, snow, cold, etc.

I think so to, i don't like to get out in it either so can't blame them :)

Absolutely love these posts. My little Gabby is a very private doggie will not potty on the pad when we are watching. And if she is away from her pad she will go hide behind a chair or whatever. If she is missing in action we better be finding her. And when she gets taken outside she will always squat even if it is just to fool her mom. For the first six months of her life she thought her name was GO POTTY!

That is so funny i have one not 1yr yet that i have called monkey tail so much that she comes running when i say it :D

We put Teddy's pads in a dog litter box (bigger than a cat box with a small lip to walk in easier). I think the idea of going in helped him to know where to go better. Now, if I could only get him to 'shake' it when he's done because boy does he dribble on the carpet as he walks away! :D

Duke is the same way with the peeing and pooping. He goes on the pad, just misses it. He also lifts his legs. I have a bottle of water in the middle for him to aim.
I used a tray from Stop and Shop that was made for dogs with 3 walls around it thinking that would help but it was not made well. The walls had holes (as part of their design) and made the space seems so small that Duke was afraid.
I now just use 2 pad to make the space a big bigger for him.
We would do anything dont we.

Kobi has never liked the pads. He goes well outside, but will not use the pad. Wish I new what to do to make him use them. He will just walk on them and smell and sometime lay down and go to sleep on them !

I use the doggy litter box with washable potty pads inside. Takes care of the missing the pad. Personally, I would not put a bottle or mini fire hydrant :D, or any other object in there to let him "aim", I think it only encourages them to lift their legs in the house. JMHO. The nice thing about the litter box is it has sides, so when my male does lift, it stays inside the box

Thanks for the tip about shower curtain liners. I got some at the dollar store and they really help!!!
