| my yorkie pees where ever he feels like it I have a 6 month old male Yorkie. He is not potty trained by far. I have tried pads and outside pottying, nothing works. My carpet looks horrible! When I come home he pees just from seeing me. He pees when he's excited and when he's scared. He is in his cage at least 6 hours during the day while we work and all night, and he never goes in there. He does #2 outside with no problem. Its just #1 that he can't get control of. I need HELP I don't want to give him up, but Idk how much more I can take. |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk. Here is a good article for you about submissive/excitement peeing: Dogs and Submissive/Excitement Urination - Fixing Submissive/Excitement Urination in Dogs Make sure your boy is also getting adequate exercise and attention when he is out of his crate, especially since he spends quite a bit of time crated. Always praise profusely when he goes potty in the correct place. Make sure he gets ample opportunity to potty in the right place. If you want to try pads again, use pads infused with a scent attractant. Make the pad readily available at all times. That means no crate. Confine him to a small room (kitchen, laundry, bathroom -- make sure toilet seat is down to avoid hazard) or an xpen with his pad.

| I agree with Maximo's advise, another thing i would recommend is making sure to clean up with a good cleaner after each accident to make sure the scent is totally gone. that might be the reason he keeps going to the carpet. |

| Our Akita was a submissive and excited urinator and by the time she was about 10 months old it completely stopped. We tried anxiety medication from our vet, but that didn't help. It just took time. Read the article posted above, there's great advise in there about how to aproach him and the do's and don'ts of dealing with it until he outgrows it. Oh, also, just to be on the safe side, we had our vet do a urinalysis to rule out a UTI, so you may want to consider that too just in case. I'd think about an ex-pen or putting him in a certain room while you're at work too with a scented piddle pad instead of a crate. That way he's not "ready to burst" when you get home

| Another option may be a belly band. I was at my wits end with Gizmo a few times and was about to try the belly band until he finally snapped out of it. Another thing that I have experienced with Yorkies is that they can senc when you're stressed. Prime example, when I was upset the Gizmo wasn't eating, he would get upset and stressed and wouldn't eat. It was a vicious circle. So, basically, I taught myself to calm down, be relaxed, take a few deep breaths and keep being consistant. Needless to say, the little heifer is eating fine. And that goes for everything. Yorkies are like a living and breathing time bomb, you have to be there at the exact time and place. your schedule revoles around theirs, not the other way around, and your buttons will be push Good luck, keep clam and carry on. In the end it'll be worth it! I know you can do it!
