| From peepee pad to green grass! Kasha has now been with us for almost 8 months (hard to believe!) and we have had her pad "trained" (she's about 80% overall avg & 90% pee trained) But Friday we are FINALLY moving to a townhouse so she can be a real dog and enjoy the outdoors! She has some experience peeing outside as both sets of grandparents take care of her several days a week and they both live in houses. But, I'm worried about her making the full time transition. Ideally, I want her to make outside but if she has to go at night or while she's home guarding the house during the day ... she can make on her pad. Anyone have experience with a move from apartment to house with a little monster? She's pretty freaked out with all the boxes as it is but I want to make her potty training easier on us all!

| I actually train mine to do both. I prefer them to go outside but want another way to relieve their tiny bladders if I am gone for a while. Some think it confuses them, and maybe so. Might be why it takes me a little longer to train. Still working on Annie and she is a little over 5 months old. But Ben & Candy both use either method just fine so I feel like I will get there with Annie too. Wish it had not turned cold so soon though. She was making such great headway but hates the cold and I don't think she is trying to do anythign outside unless it is midday and not as cold as morning or evening. It is so natural for them to go outside, I don't think you will have a problem adding that method. Since she is already used to using the pad, she will probably continue that when she is not taken out.

How were you able to teach them to go indoors and outdoors? Mine got super confused when I moved the tray outside to my patio. | |

| Bear is 90% potty trained, and he preferes to go outside. He will just stand by the backyard door and wait for us to open the door ( sometimes he barks for us to let him outside). I want him to go outside when we are home, and on the pads when he is alone at home while we work, and that is exactly how he does it ( there are still occassional accidents like last week under the Christamas Tree , but in all he learned to ask to go out when we are home. I think they can learn to do both, pads and outside without any problems. |

| How do you teach them to let you know to go outside? My puppy whimpers all the time, and its difficult for me to differentiate between him whimpering to use the bathroom or him wanting to play (usually I know because I know his bathroom schedule) |

| My Jewels is pad trained and she will go outside also. The only thinjg we did to get her going outside was put her on an eating schedule and take her out regularly

| Bear is pretty quiet little dog. The only time he barks or whimpers is if he wants something . .. a treat, a toy, or to go outside. He loves to be carried to the mail box every day, so I make sure I always take him outside to pee prior to checking mail. You won't believe how excited he gets when I open the door and say go pee -pee, he does it in a second and then runs to the front door I also try to let him out every couple of hrs, but if I am too busy or watching a movie , he will come to the door and bark. |

| Scooter is house broken at 4 months old, he does have an accident from time to time but generally he is good. Sadie will go on the pee pad and outside but she still is not sure and has her accidents but we just keep working on it. I did find that it helps to keep telling her to go potty, I do not care if anyone believes this or not but I know she understands it because she will be smelling around the ground playing with rocks and grass and when I say to her Sadie ,,,go potty, she stops and looks at me and starts smelling for a place to go and I just keep saying it till she goes. When we come back in I praise her and give her a treat, she is learning quickly. It takes time and I have found that the Yorkie breed is one of the hardest to train. My babies are spoiled RIP Sophie Lynn Mommy loves and misses you |
