| Having a trainer potty train? I'm having so much trouble potty training Harlow, and my dad is getting very frustrated! So someone mentioned I should look into having a trainer potty train Harlow. I looked up a trainer that does potty training here in my area, but before I pay all that money, I was wondering if any of you have tried having a trainer potty train any of your dogs?

| do you mean having a trainer come to your home? if so, i have a trainer that does potty training and all she really does is set up a feeding, water and outside schedule and you follow it. i have to keep a log of when my dog poops and pees and where it took place and after a week or so, you can go back and look at your dog's pattern and hopefully figure out when he/she will need to go. other than that, i really don't see that a trainer can teach the dog to potty. it is up to you to keep to a strict schedule and then, in time, you will learn the pup's schedule. i can PM you the schedule i have from my trainer if you'd like. |

With this training they actually keep the dog for two to three weeks, and potty train them, and then give them back to you. I'm pretty sure the dog wont be completely potty trained but even half is better than where I am now. lol

| yeah, my trainer does that as well, but she said she does not recommend it because she says whatever she would teach the dog in her home, would most likely not carryover to the owner's home. the dog will most likely be used to the trainer's surrounding and then not know what to do once he/she returns home. |

| I answered on your other thread, but how long have you had your little one? If she's 13 weeks, she should have been away from her mom for only 1 week. (pups go to their new homes at 12 weeks the earliest per YTCA guidelines) Mom's teach early potty training habits, and all over dog etiquette. If your pup was separated from mom too young, you really have to be extra patient, extra vigilant, and you have to put more time and effort into training your little one. It's too soon for you to lose hope! Set a schedule you will follow, and before you know it your baby will be walking to the piddle pad on their own. Yorkies are stubborn by nature, but with persistence, patience, and constant supervision, it can be done.

| I would not recommend that at all. I think she's just very young and as I mentioned earlier I'm afraid she is already confused. You started her in an xpen. Then you tried outside. Now she's in the kitchen. She's just very young. You need to do one thing and stick with it or she'll be forever confused. You need to work with her constantly when you're home. It isn't hard to do. It just takes a lot of your time and you're going to have to be willing to devote all of your free time to potty training to get to the 100 percent potty training mark.

Puppies don't train themselves. We can't keep changing the training method for a new puppy. Just pick a method and stick with it. They eventually pick up on it. Patience, consistency and spending the time with them is what it takes.
