| pads for belly bands my little kingston uses a belly band when he's indoors because he can't seem to hold his pee for more than 4 hours. i've been using female pads to line his belly band, hoping that his pee won't soak the belly band. this doesn't seem to be working. even with the pads, the belly band still manages to get wet. it's getting costly to have to always use the washer and dryer. anyone have any suggestions. i'm curious to read what the rest of you do.

| I used to use the Super night pads but the thin ones that had wings and I would cut them in half and use the wings to go around the outside of the belly band. Now my guys are really tiny so their band is only 3" wide. My larger yorkie uses the whole pad but they seem to work well. You really can't leave them on all day though, they have to be changed like a baby diaper and you have to check if they are wet!!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Instead of menstrual pads...try using the ones for incontinence. Poises work well.

| I use the Poise pads and cut them in half for my 6 month old with great success for his marking. However if it were an adult with a full urine amount I would use a whole poise pad...also make up 10 of the belly bands to use and keep the old ones in a bucket of water with kennel sol added so you only have to wash once a week?? I wash potty pads every day so I just wash the belly bands with it (1 per day) and I think that would be cheaper than the Poise. I pay 15 bucks for 60 poise pads at Wallys.... I was thinking of making liners out of baby burp rags and velcroing them in to save on the Poise and the enviroment?? anyone else tried that?

| I make washable belly band inserts called Bumpkins Barriers. However, I think they are best for marking boys and girls in heat. If a pet is completely incontinent then I usually suggest going with Poise pads.

Been thinking of going to washable pee pads instead of using the disposable...are the washables lined with something (absorbent I assume) to keep it (urine) from soaking through to the floor? (i.e., it's not just material???) If so, what is it lined with or centered between two outer layers??? Never used them before but it seems like a great (& more cost efficient way of doing things). So how many washable pads does one need? Is one good for an entire day (very absorbent???), thus if one wanted to do laundry every 5 days or so, one should have one per day?? Dumb sounding I know, but if I'm going to switch them to a washable I want to have enough to do it right. Thanks Kendra | |

| Bumpkins Barrier Could you use two of the Bumpkins Barriers like velcro-ed on top of each other? Right now I use generic Poise pads...I cut them into 5ths or so and usually put two or three stacked on top of each other to reduce the chance of soaking to the actual diaper. BUT....the pads have that powder in them that turns into gel when it gets wet and I feel like it goes EVERYWHERE! Plus, I feel like there are times when I'm up to my eyeballs in pee soaked pads...can't flush them, if they sit in a trash can they smell, and in my apartment complex the outside trash is a WAYS away...so it seems crazy to walk all the way there everytime she pees! Sorry I rambled...just looking for other options. Also--I'm looking for some type of diaper that will fit a Boston Terrier puppy as well. She has almost NO nub at all and with her slick hair she can wiggle out of EVERYTHING! |
